Bought these as a Christmas present for my SNL. He is retired Air Force and had the old version (3.0) of these. He said they were great. Very comfortable, quality is great and fit perfect. He wears a 13 wide and are true to size. He actually wears them everyday to work.
I currently have 3 different pair of the 5.11 Tactical Boots and have had 3 pair of the 5.11 Tactical 2.0 Boot. These 5.11 Tactical Speed 4.0 Boot have split where the soles meet the boot. These boots didn't have heavy wear because I have a total of (3) 5.11 Tactical Boots (the A/T ARID Boot, A.T.A.C. 2.0 Storm Boot, and these 4.0 Speed Boot) and I didn't wear them on a daily basis.
I've been through my fair share of boots over the years, from cheap work boots to overpriced hiking boots, these 5.11 tactical boots are in a league of their own. These things are built like tanks. The leather upper is incredibly tough and resists scuffs and scratches like a champ. The stitching is solid, and the sole shows virtually no wear, even after all the mileage I've put on them. I was expecting tactical boots to be stiff and uncomfortable, but these are surprisingly comfortable right out of the box. The cushioned insole and padded collar provide excellent support, even on long days. I can wear these for 12+ hours without any foot fatigue. The sole has grip on all types of surfaces, from slick rocks to muddy trails. I feel confident and secure no matter where I'm walking. While they were comfortable out of the box, they did feel even better after a short break-in period. Expect a couple of days of wear before they reach peak comfort. I highly recommend these to anyone who needs a durable, comfortable, and reliable pair of boots. Whether you're in law enforcement, security, construction, or just an avid outdoorsman, these boots will not disappoint. I'm confident that these will be my go-to boots for years to come. I gave them 4 stars only because unfortunately they are not waterproof. But, still great boots.
Product arrived in a timely manner and was very well packaged. This is a lightweight pair of well built 5 11 boots in a tan color. They are extremely easy pair of boots to wear and walk in. They provide me with ankle support that I very much need. In fact I have been wearing them daily since I received them since they provide me with lightweight support of my ankle. They are comfortable and I have even forgot I have they on. They seem to be at a reasonable price point for the comfort and support these boots present. They have a zipper up the side to make them easier to put on. Overall a great product.
I wanted to try these out because I believe 5.11 to be a quality company and I was looking to replace a pair of worn down timberlands I have used for several years. These are a different style than what I have been used to so I may be biased towards the lower ankle style that I have been used to. These are definitely taller on the ankle which I don't necessarily have a problem with and may actually be a pro in terms of fit and support. I've also never owned a pair of hiking boots that had a zipper on the side so this was slightly new to me although the zipper does seem to move and operate smoothly. The laces / lacing system seems to work well in terms of tightening where needed without much effort. Size wise I have struggled with appropriate sizing between brands for a long time trying to find what fits well and comfortably. I ordered a 9.5 because the sizing chart showed that was equal to a EU 43 and I was looking to size up to that from my Timberlands which are a US 9 / EU 42 or 42.5. I can feel that there is definitely some wiggle room left in the toe box area which I think is ok but what I am struggling with is the feel/fit in the heel. It feels like there is a stiff piece of molding/plastic under the suede material that feels like it is pressing into the my heel uncomfortably. I'm hoping this is something that will go away as I wear them in some more but I'm going to have to be careful during the break in period. I have noticed similar issues with other boot brands I have tried so this could easily be an issue specific to my feet but I figure it is worth mentioning. In general my feet are fairly narrow and I have seen other reviews mention these boots tend to run narrow versus wide. No real issue with the width or the length from me but the concern with the heel fit has me between 3 and 4 stars on this pair. For now I'll stick with my timberlands until I can hopefully get these more worn in and loosened up.
These 5.11 boots are high-quality and offer a great fit. They’re super comfortable, making them my son’s favorite shoes to wear. The durability and comfort make them perfect for everyday use. Highly recommend!
I always prefer a zipper boot. It's just to handy.I'm not sure if this doesn't go as far down, uses a different line, or just hasn't been broken in enough, but doesn't seem to let me slip in & out as well as my old Bates Delta 8 boots.the construction feels soldi, though light.Not sure if they are a bit wide or still breaking in, but I get a bit of that weird noise when the toe bends.
