I research the heck out of everything before I buy it. My husband says I'm obsessed. I prefer the term "thorough". He wanted slippers that had a heel to them. He just doesn't wear the kind that are open in the back. He has several pairs already. Being the "thorough" person I am, I made a list and started my research. My criteria:- He has a wide foot is super picky about what shoes he wears. I needed these to be big enough without being so big that they slip off. - These have elastic on either side to make it fit better. I read the reviews and got 1 size bigger than his normal shoe size. Good choice. They fit perfectly!- I wanted something that could be worn outside so he couldn't weasel out of taking the trash out or getting the mail because his slippers were only indoors. But I didn't want to have that hard plastic bottom that most slippers have that don't bend when you walk! These were perfect on both accounts!- They had to be washable. Let's face it. Anything you wear without socks is going to get stinky after a while! There are very few slippers that can be washed and this is one of them.My husband absolutely LOVES these slippers - even more than I thought he would. Heck, he even tells me quite often "I love my slippers....". Weirdo....He gets home from work and puts them on immediately. He has NEVER been a hard core slipper wearer like this before! Never! He says that they have great support and are warm but not too warm, super comfy and soft. Seriously though, even though these do cost more than your run of the mill slippers, they are worth it. Trust me.
I just bought these slippers for the second time after my first pair started to give out after three years of use. They feel good, they are warm, and they work well. They might not last forever, but they hold together for a good, long time. These slippers feel great on my feet. I walk on a lot of wood and tile floors at home, and these slippers have a great, supportive, cushioning sole. From inspecting the soles on my first pair of these, I can see that there is the outer sole, then a dense foam piece, then a cushy foam piece, and then the fleece liner. All of that adds up to no foot or back pain for me as I shuffle around the house. These fellas are warm. The fat cushion under the foot keeps the cold from penetrating from below. Then, the fairly stiff, wool-blend upper hugs the feet with the warmth you’d expect from thick wool. And oh my, it’s Italian wool too - must be good, right?I like how these slippers perform. The sole is good and grippy and won’t let anything wet get through. I can take the garbage out to the garage and not worry about the wet, salty mess on the floor - the sole keeps me nice and dry. Also, the elastic around the top help give the slippers a good, snug fit too - you can wiggle them on and off, but you don’t have to worry about them just falling off on their own.Okay, now the downside. They do eventually wear out. First thing I saw was that the wool upper on one side wore out down to some foam piece. Upon further inspection, there are several spots where the wool is worn thin. Also, the handsome suede leather trim has begun to separate in a few spots from where it is stitched onto the outer sole. But keep in mind, this wear happened over three years of almost-daily use. I estimate over three thousand hours was spent in these puppies before they were retired (yes, I agree, that is a lot of time spent in slippers). Overall, I think the useful life of this product is just fine.If you are looking for good slippers with a good cushion, then these just might be the ones for you.
My second pair replacing one I had worn out after 3 yrs. Very comfortable and warm. It breathes well so feet don't get wet from perspiration. They are well made and I love the rubber soles which allows me to take a quick jaunt outside to the mailbox without having to put on shoes. I wear size 10.5 shoes so I bought a large which is supposed to fit size 10.5-11.5. It fit me so perfectly that I'm guessing it might be a bit small for someone who wears size 11.5 (or maybe even size 11) shoes. If this pair is anything like my previous pair, it will stretch a little over time but not so much that it becomes loose fitting. I rated it 4 instead of 5 only because I think it could have a little nicer styling but that's a personal choice matter and should not be seen as a poor commentary on its quality, fit or function.
I've worn various Acorn slippers over the years and decided to give these a try to see what they have to offer. When I slipped them on, they felt a little snug. I read the reviews and ordered a size down. After a day or 2 wearing them they feel amazing on my feet. The memory foam foot bed is out of this world. In fact my double the price Sorrell Falcon Ridge slippers aren't nearly as comfortable. They're not loud when walking around the house on hardwood floors and not overly hot to make my foot sweat. You could use these to walk out to get the mail as the sole as a rubber outsole.I wear a size 10.5 in my Addias golf shoes and Under Armour running shoes and have a medium width foot. So I ordered a 9-10 slipper and provide a secure feel on my foot. They most likely would loosen up over time and after a day they have. Highly recommended.
Perfect! Except for one thing: My dog loved them too! Destroyed in under 5 minutes.
They have a very soft sole. It is comfortable so far, but may wear out readily. My biggest concern is that the left slipper is deforming such that the sole is sliding to the right and may cause breakdown from the upper scrapping the floor too much. This could be an unbalanced sewing issue or it could be my foot motion shearing too the left. The softness of construction provides no correction if the latter is the case. They are snug and warm. Sole wear due to abrasion will likely present it self after several months. Price seems high for low wear life.
