Veteran Female Climber Weighs in on Crawe

Woman 5'4" 120Lbs advanced climber (5.12+)Size 40 (8.5-9 womens street shoe)I have worn these for a few years and have had them resoled 1x (Backcountry Cobblers).Very comfortable for me (I usually wear Altra shoes), sticky, nice edge, stays on foot and heel nicely. Feels like a slingshot from toe to heel which allows great precision and use of toes without adding effort. Push down on toe and heel lifts up adding to power through foot and toe. At first I thought I would not like, b/c I was wearing a very comfortable Mythos from La Sportiva for all day climbing (crack climbing at Indian Creek) but I needed something more aggressive and gym specific.Since owning these shoes, I've also had a pair of Evolve Shaman LV and found them to be oddly sized (Most climbing shoes are!). I like the Crawe better - for both indoor and outdoor climbing. Despite having only one velcro adjustment, they fit well, and easily use two pull tabs to get foot in. I love a good edge on a shoe and these have a very nice edge for tiny little jibs. I also feel very confident heel and toe hooking. These seem to work for me and with a correct sizing they can work for you too.Ps< I recently bought some La Sportiva Theorys - and found the Theory to be so soft and painful in toes that I can't wear. Climbing shoes are a total guess. Perspective is that all shoes should fit snugly but not painfully - even a 25+ year veteran still gets it wrong. Stick with what works and buy multiple pairs!

Runs Painfully Small

Runs very small in length (even for an intermediate climbing shoe). Consider ordering a full U.S. size up from your athletic shoe size unless you're looking for a truly masochistic climbing experience. Construction, shape, materials seemed fine otherwise, but I didn't climb in them to test them out.
