Don't Think About It, Buy Them
I had a pair of perfectly good Five Ten Freeriders that did the job, but I hated the skate shoe aesthetic. Had these in my cart for awhile and finally decided to buy them when the price fell to $120. They run slightly small compared to other Five Ten shoes, so best to go up half a size. They stick like glue to my flat pedals (DMR Vaults), just like the Freeriders, and they're suprisingly light, extremely comfortable and IMO much nicer looking than any other MTB shoe that's out there. Wear them at Mountain Creek, Thunder, Killington and Snowshoe and they offer solid protection, good ventilation and perform as expected. Can't speak to durability yet, but they're well made and I'll update this review if I have any issues. If you're on the fence debating, I highly recommend getting them.UPDATE (3/15/23): Still amazed how light they are! Glad I bought them, there's barely any wear and tear other than a couple scuff marks on the toe. The combination of weight, grip, protection and durability make these my favorite MTB shoes by far!

Great shoes
I’m very pleased with the quality of the material and construction. Shoe size was right on for me, though the toe box is snug on my average-to-narrow foot, so a wider foot may need to size up. Functionally, the shoes are super grippy on my pedals.

Very very good MTB trail shoes!
Wow are these good. Ultra comfort yet stable and supportive. Ankle protection is HUGE for MTB downhill! Cool never had any issues even in 100 degree humid days riding for hours. Very sticky grip on nylon pedal spikes, almost like having clips! Walkability is perfect, they make a great shoe for hiking around. Frankly they look amazing and highly recommend these! Toe box is roomy, I did stretch out one toebox for two days on my bigger foot before wearing to get a mm or 2 looser. Just jammed in solid block and it stretches doubt nice.

Great but got the wrong size
After reading reviews I felt the need to go a half size up . When I got the shoes they feel great but …they’re a half size too big. Taking them back for the correct size and we’ll go from there. I wear an 11 in shoe size but got a 11.5 in these. I think an 11 will fit perfect!

Great shoes, however, wide feet should take note
My old canvas free rider five ten shows finally started to get holes in the bottom of the soles from pedal cleats after almost 6 years of regular use. These newer style of five tens are made to look more like a regular jogging sneaker rather than the skate shoe style I was used to. I decided to go this route to get a shoe that was perhaps a bit less bulky to avoid accidentally hitting my rear triangle and cranks so much with my shoes.l when pedaling. The big things to keep in mind with these shoes are that they have a more narrow toe box then the skate style free riders. I have a moderately wide foot, if the shoe is flexible enough it is fine but if they have stiff sidewalls it can cause discomfort. These shoes are narrow enough to cause discomfort even after going up and additional half size over your regular shoes size (which I would definitely recommend) I usually wear a 9 sneaker, my old canvas free rider five tens where also 9.5 and I went with 9.5 on these. The overall length is perfect however that narrowness was an issue.I ended up keeping a pair of shoe stretchers in these over a weekend just to get a bit of extra width since that's all I needed and I am glad to say it worked perfectly. If you have narrow feet or your feet are not particularly wide these should fit perfectly. But if your feet a slightly wider than usual, be prepared to try and stretch these or go with something else. If your feet are really wide than I would avoid these altogether because there is no way they will ever be comfortable. Now that fit is out of the way, I'll say the grip on the sole is as excellent as ever and also very durable and tough. I have no doubt the sole will last at least as long as my old pair did. The exterior shell of the shoe is also quite durable with a mix of breathable mesh and more durable vinyl plastic materials in areas that are more likely to rub things. There is enough mesh material to ensure that these shoes do a good job breathing, this also means that they will easily let in water so that may be something to consider if you ride in the wet.I live in a desert and these shoes can get some hot spots in the sun just because of the vinyl like material they are partly built with. But there is not much that can be done about that, and this is a problem with most shoes here, just know that is something you may notice. These shoes run higher than a low top. But the material around the ankle area is more of a neoprene sock like material, so while it does add slightly more support, it's not a lot. I like it though as its a bit more protection from thorns and other things scratching your legs.As for looks I think they're excellent, I wasn't sure at first about ordering the light green olive like color, but I knew I didn't want black shoes that would really roast in the sun so I went with the former color scheme and am happy to say they look awesome. The color is very mild, not super bright and blends in with your bike kit very well. These shoes are subdued enough that if you wanted to you could wear these casually. Finally like all my riding shoes I switch the laces to elastic style with the plastic keeper piece so I don't have to worry about laces going into a sprocket or chain. I did do a couple ride with the laces and they do a decent job of staying tied but you must double knot.In summary I would recommend these shoes to any mountain biker or gravel rider that likes to use flats and wants something a bit more normal sneaker looking. But I wouldn't recommend these for someone with a very wide foot or a slightly wide foot that isn't willing to use a shoe stretcher for a couple days in these. Also wouldn't recommend these to someone looking for a waterproof shoe because these are not, since they're so breathable. I also think it would be a good move if Adidas decided to offer these in a moderate wide size as many people could use this.

Very comfortable and look amazing
I just received the shoes, they look awesome, I was definitely not exited with the other designs that look like a street shoe for an 80 yr old, these look cool and feel great. I’ve only used them once, a two hour ride and immediately felt the difference. They stick to the pedals really well, they are rigid at the sole and you can feel the power on the pedals much better. The closed ankle cuff worried me that it would sofocante my feet but that was not the case, when the summer arrives I would be able to tell better. As others say they run a little small, it’s a snug fit so I went up half a size and they fit perfect. I wear a US 9 and ordered 9.5They are comfortable, good looking, competitive in price and seem made with good quality materials. Highly recommended. I can’t wait to ride again!

Very tight fit
They seem like a good shoe but I could barley get them on my feet. I have wide feet and these are obviously made for someone with very slender feet. I normally wear a size 10 and these were also a bit short. I wanted these because they seem to offer some ankle protection. They do have a nice stiff sole. I returned these and bought the Five Ten Freerider DLX Mountain Bike Shoes in a 10.5. After reading many reviews, it seems all the Five Ten shoes run at least a half size small. The DLX shoe fits much better!
