Excellent Quality

I have always loved Vietnam Jungle boots in this olive drab/black color, but there are not many companies that make them now. I see three options, Belleville, Altama, and McRae. These are not Berry compliant (made in the Phillipines), but the quality is very good. Durable and comfortable and a great all around boot. I typically wear a size 9.5 or 10 (sometimes wide). These do fit narrow. The size 8.5W was a bit too tight. Size 9.0W fit great. No heel slippage and enough room in the toe box for comfort. If you can get them on sale especially, I think they are a high quality boot

Good quality boots

Not sure why people are complaining about the fit of these boots. I ordered my normal size, and they fit just fine. I definitely recommend they get their feet measured instead of just guessing their size. I can only describe it as slipping my feet into a Cadillac. They are made outside the US but appear to be to Altima's specs. With the RO-SEARCH stamp on the bottom I have confidence these will last a good while.

Great Boots

I was in the Marines in the 90s. I was issued two pairs of Altama boots, an All Leather and an Improved Hot Weather Cordura and Leather pair. Like a lot of other Marines at that time, I bought two pairs of Altama canvas OD Green Jungle Boots and wore those until my contract ended. (one pair still has my dog tag in the laces, I still have them) When I saw these boots I had to buy a pair. They are the best of both worlds. It is an OD Green Improved Hot Weather Boot like the black cordura pair I was issued. Altama makes solid products and these are definitely up to their standards. Fit is spot on. I could not be happier with my purchase.

too soon to know durability, but sturdy and comfortable

I've wanted a pair of jungle boots for years, thanks to six/twelve ways, but always bought inexpensive slippers (what you Americans call flip flops) and $20 cheapie hikers from w mart (which are now $40, thanks central banks). The few work boots I tried for hiking fell apart - looked like the sole was sewn on (goodyear welt?) but like every shoe I've bought in the last decade, besides sperry topsiders (sewn sole) they end up with the sole detaching well before I've worn out the shoe.I am impressed with the quality of this 12 wide Altama. I buy shoes in size 12 and 13 depending, and I could tell the 12 wide fit with one pair of wigwams, and wore them a day or two later with two pair of wigwams. I was considering the Rothco or Fox but never knew what size, and a good price on these Altamas convinced me to give them a try. Happy with them! I just hope the sole doesn't "come unglued."

Quality -unfortunately not!

UPDATE 2020 Aug:After using them about 1-2 hours almost daily since end of March they have now been a hole from the inside to the outside leather in the heel (not hole, see picture). This rub against my heel and I can't use them any more. Apart from the crack between the sole and the boot in my first report it seems it is cuts all around like they cut wrong. This boots should have been terminated and not even put together -how they cold miss this when they do the boots and also the quality check is beyond me. If these were used in military operations I doubt they will hold up any longer than a month! This is the worst boots I ever had and I have had a few during my years both in military and civilian life.Use these when I walking my dog here in Thailand. Walking on fields and on roads. Nothing special. Bought these since I needed a pair of boots that is made for hot climate.Ordered one size bigger than normal, I have 43 but ordered 44 wide. The boots is a little too big but works anyway. So if you are size 43 order size 43 since they seems to fit correctly. It is just lately I walk and use them like 1 time a day. Before that like 2 times a week. They are quite comfortable actually. I like there is no padding/isolation on the shaft of the boot.Unfortunately when I cleaned them today I saw there is a big crack between the sole and the leather! Only after so little use and they supposed to be made for military, well I might got a Monday example...I have been in the Swedish military and used LOWA boots which are to hot here but really good otherwise. Also in my work I have been using boots from Seivi, Arbesko. So I know how to take care boots etc.I will continue to use them since I need shoes for hot climate. I will not buy another boot from Altama again!I'm looking at others from i.e 511, Belleville, I see what happens. Don't want to pay over 120 for some since I only use them to walking my dog etc. Still expecting them to hold up though. I never had a pair of boots/shoes that broke after 2 month of normal walking. Not recommended.

Too big

Incredibly big in the heels, so I had to return. Otherwise seemed really good quality.
