Perfect
I bought these shoes because I was going to hike in Oregon for my spring break. I have Altra shoes for working out so I figured I would see what kind of trail running/hiking shoes they had since I knew they were good for my foot type. I just got back from my trip and these shoes were GREAT! The first time I wore them they didn't tear up my ankle/heel like new shoes usually do. When I wore them hiking we were hiking in snow. They had good traction and they got a little wet but my socks never felt wet. They have some mesh covered slits at the front which I think helped keep my feet from getting too hot and sweaty and kept them dry. I never leave Amazon reviews but the whole time I was hiking I was like "Oh my gosh these are amazing I'm so glad I got these". They are light, comfortable and gave my toes space but were tight enough around my heel/bridge. They also fit my insoles well. I'm not usually an outdoors person but I guess I have a good reason now since I have these shoes!

Game changer
Update 2 seasons: I just re-ordered these shoes in the same model and color. These shoes have allowed me to double my hiking distances without any pain or discomfort! I have taken these on a 8-day backpacking trip through the Patagonian backcountry and I was amazed at how well they dried after walking through rivers. I will continue to re-buy these shoes as long as they sell them.--Original review: I am an avid backpacker, who has been slowed in recent years by chronic foot pain and discomfort (blisters, fatigue, etc). I have tried many different types of boots in an attempt to increase my endurance and comfort on the trail. Despite convention recommending sturdier boots when carrying a heavy pack, I decided to give trail runners a try. I also wanted to find a pair with a wide toe box in hopes that would improve comfort. Yesterday I used the Lone Peak 6s for the first time when backpacking. The trip was a total of 10 miles with 2200' - including 6 miles in snow. I experienced no discomfort at all - which is incredible for me. The shoes had great traction for snow (and microspikes fit over them well in firmer snow conditions), and dried quickly after river crossings and kick stepping. I wore these shoes without breaking them in, and I didn't have to tape up my feet. No blisters, rubbing, or foot discomfort. I liked the zero drop heel. I'm really optimistic I found a solution to my foot pain and that I will be able to get in many more miles this summer!

Tough trail shoes
I waited awhile to write a review because I wanted to really break these shoes in first. I’ve taken them on several difficult hikes so far and they’ve held up very well. They’re comfortable, offer good traction in mud, and my toes actually have room to spread out. I initially thought the shoes were too big when I tried them on, but I realized it’s actually the style of the shoe print and they’re designed to give your toes more room. I like that feature, especially when you’re hiking all day. I recently hiked in rocky steep terrain and they held up very well over roots, jagged edges, and muddy terrain. I hit the tip of my toe on a lot of rocks/roots and the toe area on these shoes protected my foot very well, and the top of the shoes have quick-dry lightweight mesh. I’m happy with these shoes, wish I had them earlier on some more strenuous hikes I did over the summer. My only complaint is the ugly color scheme. I really wish they offered more subdued colors in these shoes. The shoes say “orange” but they are more of a coral/pinkish/salmon color and really stand out like a highlighter. The more subdued colors were almost twice as much, but would hide dirt/scuffs better and not stand out so bad…but I tend to go for comfort over appearance. Just wish the color didn’t make my feet look like Ronald McDonald shoes. Overall, these are great trail shoes and seem do to the job. They can really take a beating.

Comfortable and roomy, good traction
I have been looking for a walking shoe that allows me to wiggle my toes. These fit the bill for me. Thought I might need to go up a half size, but decided to stay with my 8.5 and am pleased I did. I find the cushioning is comfortable. I have a high arch and the shoes are easy to get on and off.Only worn them a few times so I can’t comment on the durability. For that I give it a 4.Will most likely put in a longer lace. I love the neutral color as well. I like the feel of the treads as well.I would definitely recommend

MY #1 SHOE TO HIKE IN
Love my Lone Peaks! They are my go to choice when hiking and trail running. Never had any blister...ever! Lots of toe room. Mine aren't waterproof, so I stayed them with Zep. Ive worn them on 20+ mile day hikes and have never had any issues with pain or blisters.
