These are very well-made - more rugged than other altra shoes I've owned. Nice amount of cushioning for walking or hiking. More leather than other altra shoes - around the toes for example. Sturdier lacing and laces. I like the original foot shape and these have that. They fit me well - I have wide toes and slightly flat arches. And they manage to look nice enough for town wear too.
These are great shoes for the hiker that wishes they could wear their trail runners daily and not look like a dweeb. I already had a pair of the regular Lone Peak trail runners for hiking and also a pair of Escalantes that were my daily wear shoes. The Escalantes were ok but fit more like a soft sock and don't have much structure and not much tread (and the tread delaminated too quickly). They finally wore out so I decided to try these Lone Peaks because they are more structured but still light weight and flexible and have the same Lone Peak tread so I could even wear them on the trail if I wasn't worried about getting them dirty. I knew that Altras run smaller in size than the 9 1/2 that I usually wear, so I ordered 10 1/2 and they fit perfectly. I have relatively flat feet with a low arch so these are perfect for me and took no time to break in. My feet have become accustomed to the wide toe box and now I hate wearing most other shoes that don't have wiggle room for my toes. Thanks Altra, keep making these!
These are probably the most comfortable sneakers that I have tried on in some time, very cushiony. However, 4 stars because I HATE the denim material and probably would have kept them if it weren’t for that.
Shoes never fit me right, I gave up, until I saw these. They actually hug your heel while providing adequate toe room. They are wonderfully grippy. Runs large
This is my third time purchasing these shoes, I absolutely love these, they will be the most comfortable shoes you’ll ever wear! Plus they have amazing grip for hiking over boulders, tough terrain, etc. The first time I purchased these, I took them right out of the box and hiked around Death Valley for a week. I was used to wearing wider shoes like keens, these are my go-to now. Plus they just look good too. Love ‘em!
I have Lone Peak 5's that I *love* and wear for work (standing all day). I have a bunion and arthritis and the LPs are great!But I thought, what if the LP had more cushion??? So I got the LP Alpine. Loved it, squishy, a little tighter around the tops of my toes but otherwise, fine.Well, I was wrong. My feet have been killing me the last month and my bunion/arthritis is really flaring. I do not believe this is zero drop like the LP and sadly, will have to go back to my old beat up LPs because spending another >$100 on shoes after just 3 months isn't how my budget works.
So comfy for wide feet! Highly recommend.
