Really great trail shoe!

LOVE these shoes. I tried on a pair in Chamonix and fell in love with the flat midsole and wide toe box. Very comfortable. So far the lack of "megagrip" on the outsole of the lone peak 9 doesnt seem to be an issue. So far they seem to grip really well on wet concrete at least. I will put these through the paces but so far extremely impressed with the style, colors, comfort and performance.

First Altras, love 'em

I really like these shoes. Needed better gravel protection for walking a sporting clays course. Wide toebox super comfy and so far pass the summer comfort test. Well vented and quick drying.

Good shoes for the rocky trails

Very good room in the toe box for splaying (10 out of 10) and cushioning is good (8 out of 10). Traction is excellent on rocky trails (10 out of 10) which I use every week. A tad bit on the ugly side, but I'm not going on a date when I'm trail running. When I tried on the flat road or even tread mill you can feel the lugs on the bottom. I guess not a problem if you only use on the trails like it is designed for, just wish they were more versatile.

Brilliant shoes. Where have these been all my life??

Planning a hiking vacation in the fall and I have been wearing these all summer. Can't say enough good things about these shoes. Foot shaped shoes -- why have we been wearing pointed shoes smashing our toes? Bought these and the waterproof version. Been wearing these in the summer and they are fabulous. Do yourself a favor and order a pair. These are lightweight. The zero rise his wonderful! Holding up well so far.

Excellent trail shoes. The 9's are a big improvement over previous Lone Peak models.

Love what Altra has done with the 9's. Better grip in the heel, better lateral stability. To be fair, I'm returning to the Lone Peaks after several years away. I think my last pair were 4 or 5's.I hear the 9 is also their most durable generation yet. Can't speak to that, but they are the most comfortable Lone Peaks I've owned and perform very well on trail - great grip and very nimble.

Best version yet

Best version yet. Every time I have a gripe they seem to fix it in the next version without any input. I have a pair of brooks that hurt my shins every run and went back to altra’s. The thing I miss is the rubber bungee on the tongue to hold the laces. Hint hint.

Fall Risk

Irritating heal extension. Possible fall risk. This might be my error in ordering these. They are running shoes and I’m not a runner. They have a heel/sole extension of approximately 1/4” in the back. I’m sure this was designed for stability while running. It’s become a hindrance. Wearing them while driving they catch in the carpeting and I became concerned that these shoes could hinder a rapid exchange from gas pedal to the brake. This made it difficult to enter and exit the car. The heel extension catches on stairs while descending. Today I went down the steps on my deck. The shoes caught the step and I started to fall but was able catch myself to avoid an accident. I couldn’t return the shoes as there is only a 1 month return period. I cut the heel extensions off with a razor knife. I hated to butcher a fine pair of shoes but it was necessary.
