Comfortable shoes for walking, running, and playing pickleball. Quality construction and soles
Great walking and running shoes. Really like the wide toolbox and zero drop.
I get compliments all the time on how nice they look! They function even better with a full toe box my toes don’t feel cramped, and I don’t have a wide foot. This just feels better and more natural! Highly recommended this product!
This is my 7th pair of Altras. What I originally loved about Altras was the wide base from the super wide toe box and the 18mm stack height of the Superior 1.5 and the One v2, they were the perfect alternative to "barefoot" shoes like Vibram 5-fingers, Merrell Vapor gloves for people who wanted some padding and structure without giving up of the barefoot feel. These aren't that anymore. They are much more normal. These remind me more of the traditional running shoes used to wear when I first got into running. The toe box doesn't smash your toes to a point, but they aren't so wide that your toes can splay out as if you were barefoot, so they look more normal and less like clown shoes. The stack height of 28mm is also more like a normal running shoe, but they're isn't any heal-toe drop, which will allow you to run with a fore/mid foot-strike, but they won't force you to run that way by punishing you for heal striking because they have enough padding that you can heal-strike without any pain.In general these are normal shoes, unlike what you may expect from Alta, but after about a month of using these for my longer runs, these feel like normal running shoes, not Altras, but they are very good running shoes. They are very comfortable and I can use them for long distances without eatig up my fet too badly.
I was hopeful with these shoes for a nice plush ride with a large toe box to provide a more natural gait, but the shoes are unsuitable for distance running. After only a few miles the fatigue set in my feet because of how firm the shoe is. I weigh 160, so I'm by no means a light runner, but probably on the lower end for this shoe size. The shoes have little to no shock absorption and the forefoot takes the full force. I have never had this issue before, even with zero drop shoes and barefoot shoes. I'm theorizing that these shoes would provide good cushioning for a heavier runner, but the foam is much too firm. The insoles are also flimsy and provide little additional cushioning or support, and my concerns and pain did not dissipate even when switching out the insoleI was hopeful that it was just a break in period, but forty miles in and the shoes are still having the same issues.UPDATE:Left them in the hot sun for a couple days and the midsole finally softened. After fifty miles the break in period is over and they are pretty well-cushioned. I do not regret this purchase at $75 on sale, but I wish I had left them in the 90F (32C) sun sooner.
I love going bare foot, so my toes are more spread out. This makes wearing shoes a lot more comfortable. I used them for work everyday for over a year. I worked retail and I was on my feet all day. These made a huge difference in how I felt after a long work day.
Running shoes that I wear for daily wear and hiking. Love the zero drop, the thick sole, and the wide toe box! Great shoe overall!!
