Most comfortable pair of shoes I've ever owned

I had an older pair of dress shoes that featured a square-toe design that I finally had to get rid of, so I went searching for a nice pair of comfortable casual/sporting shoes for everyday wear that had the same type of wide toebox design. My search brought me to these Altra shoes and I haven't been disappointed. They are feather-light, and the wide toebox and flat heel design are everything I could've hoped. You don't realize how bad regular shoes are until you wear a pair of these.A note of caution though when ordering - order a size larger than what you normally wear. I originally ordered my regular size (12) but I had to return those in favor of a 13 and the 13's fit perfectly. I intend on purchasing another pair of Superior 5's of a different color.Great pair of shoes and I highly recommend them to anyone looking for walking comfort!

Better than the big name shoes.

Better than those other fashionable brands that aren't foot shaped and have no room for human toes. I ran 5 mes a week in these training for a 12 hour race where I went 46 miles. Still using them for 5 miles a week and ran 100 miles in another Altra shoe for my first 100 mile ultra marathon. Stop subjecting your feet to an unnatural shape. These are the next best thing or a gradual step to barefoot shoes. Do the research.

wide feet winner

Hubby loves this style of shoes from this brand. They are comfortable and made for wide feet. The shoes made daily walks more enjoyable and it is durable and great for everyday wear and especially for travel, which includes long walk everyday to tour and travel to places while traveling aboard. They are expensive, not trendy but it is with great functionality.

Great hikers, Buy 1/2 size over!

I love the Altra Superiors. I have owned at least a dozen Altras. The Superiors have always run a half size small; even compared to other Altras. They are light and thin, almost like moccasins. I have used other light weight hikers, the Superiors are my favorite. If you are transitioning from more traditional Hikers, you'll want to transition to the thinner soles. They provide stone guard inserts to help you transition but I have never used them. They have great grip. I used to turn my ankles from time to time in sturdier traditional Hikers, even the mid highs. It's the heals and hard soles you can't feel what's under your feet. I haven't turned my ankles in years since I switched to Altras. With the Superiors, you are lower to the ground and can feel what you are walking on. I love the feel of the trail, even the rocks. My feet have adapted. I have hiked thousands of miles in them, from a 25 mile Rim-To-Rim, to 14ers.Oh, and I NEVER get blisters anymore. Now a couple of knocks, the rear foot on the Superior 5 is a kind of pleather. I liked the fully nylon mesh in the older styles. The Superior 2s were my favorite version. I am not a fan of the one sided wrapped tongue. It's not a deal killer and has some advantages but I liked the centered tongue better.Great shoes for a great price, (on sale).Happy Trails

My first pair of trail runners.

This is the lightest pair of shoes I’ve ever bought. The traction is great and they dry fast. The first time I wore them it rained. My Darn tough socks were a perfect match for this shoe. Wore them for two days outdoors the whole time camping (not running or hiking as I was trying to break them in first) no foot issues and I really like the tow box and zero drop souls. My first time to have both in one shoe. I had a pair of Solomon trail runners but they were so narrow I never really liked them. This shoe is very comfortable and I think they will be great for backpacking.

Shoes are rad

The Rock protection inserts were not included, shoes run 1/2 size small, normally I’m a 10.5 but as 11s they fit perfectly. All in all I love these kicks, super cozy on my wide feet.
