Great shoes. Very grippy and a lot of bounce. True to size!
They don't just keep water out, they also keep sand and other material out! They are warm shoes, so keep that in mind. But overall I've loved these shoes so far. I've trekked through snow, sand and straight out puddles, my feet have stayed dry and not sandy. Great durability so far.
Laces come undone after 8 hours regularly
These shoes are ridged in a good way and definitely water proof. Very lightweight. They seem more narrow from the eye but they are just as wide as the regular Altras. Great shoe so far.
I have mixed feelings about these shoes. I find that the GTX models run smaller and narrower than the other Altra shoes that I normally buy. I think it's mostly because of the material that does not give as much as normal running shoe uppers. Also, this pair had a knot on the inside of the left shoe where the red shoelace Loop is sewn in. It's the same location where the Gore-Tex liner ends and those two combined made a knot that dug into my foot. I know this isn't a design flaw because I have other GTX shoes in a different size that don't have that problem. I'm returning these to see if the next pair has the same problem.
Sturdy, comfortable, large toe box. Vibram sole very non-slip. Great shoe!
I bought these shoes because they were described by Altra as waterproof. I just had my first opportunity to wear them in the rain. I wore them for 20 minutes in a moderate rain (no puddles). They are not even close to being waterproof. The bottom of my socks, and much of the rest of the socks covered by the shoes, got soaked. I've bought three other pairs of Altra shoes, running shoes that were not claimed to be waterproof. I like them (though they wear out fast). But seeing that this company is willing to make a patently false claim about one of their shoes is enough for me to never again buy any of their shoes. When you pay $175 (plus tax) for a pair of shoes, they should absolutely be as described by the company. Sadly, I did not have the chance to wear these shoes in the rain until the amazon window for returns had closed, or I would have returned them as defective.
