Very comfortable!

This is my second pair of these exact shoes. I’ve been wearing the previous pair day-in and day-out for 7 months and they have held up better than any of my previous Altras. The uppers are showing signs of wear but the soles still look really good- much better than my previous Altras. I got a second pair because I’m impressed with them and they are very comfortable. My photos shows comparison of the new next to the old. (I have been wearing the new pair for a few weeks.)They are exceptionally comfortable with a wide toe box. I use them at my standing desk, taking walks throughout the day, and doing all kinds of things around our property . They’ve held up very well all things considered.

Fantastic road to trail sneaker.

These are awesome. I have owned many pairs of altra sneakers (almost all the provision) and I've loved each pair. I only just received these but I got them for an epic trip and will update if needed.I rushed to write the review bc all of the bad reviews seemed to be based on the colors. I think what some people don't understand is that any running or outdoor sneaker that's built for enthusiasts will generally have reflective material to make the person wearing them more visible - either to cars or others who may pose a risk if not aware. They look just fantastic in my opinion but I didn't appreciate these bright colors as much until I realized that they help keep me safe.My first impression is that these are absolutely perfect.

Colors are misleading, also, Altra has changed for the worse.

My first pair of Altras were the superior 2 back in 2016. Since they wore out, I loved everything about those. I have tried to find a pair I like just as much several times since then with the later generations of superior, lone peaks, and now these. Altra seems to constantly change the shoes within the same line drastically, and now they have several different foot shapes. Instead of focusing on what they originally did well, they have tried to expand too much and settled for mediocrity. These shoes specifically are tighter than any other Altras I've tried and don't even feel like wide toe box shoes. Also the color I bought is very different than in the pictures. In the product pictures, the blue-ish green looks earthy and subdued and the orange looks more brownish, in real life they look like mint chip ice cream and bright orange, very disappointed.

Cushion, grip, and comfort.

Update: I’ve run/walked in these multiple times now. The toe box isn’t as roomy as my Rivera’s.I’ve walked in these twice for a total of about 6.5 miles. The photos were taken during my first walk. I understand why the material on the toe/forefoot develops a hole. You can immediately see how the material creases as I walk. I purchased these shoes for walking/hiking. I had seen all of the reviews where holes developed along the outside of the shoe. I have Altra Rivera 2 and 3, so I figured the Outroad would be the off-road equivalent. The fit is fine, length-wise, but I’m finding that I need to tighten the laces a bit more to secure the forefoot. Toe room is nice, as expected. The cushioning is very nice. I can see why people get them for jobs where you are on your feet. The sole is nice and grippy off-road and on. I fit the altra narrow foot profile well. The Rivera 2s upper fits the best, but the sole in the 3s is much nicer. I will keep working on breaking this shoe in, and hopefully the material will last. I’ll update as needed, and keep my fingers crossed altra can fix the hole issue.

Altra Not Altra

I’ve been with Altra since version 2 of the Lone Peak shoes they make. Over the years the quality and functionality of the shoes have gone down while the prices have gone up.This shoe (Outroad) is no different. Now, Altra offers Slim, Natural, and Original for you to choose from instead of just sticking to the tried and true Altra ORIGINAL feel. This shoe is their slim style. I still get good room for the toes but across the top of my mid foot it’s snug. Thanks to people who cried to Altra (known for the extra roominess for the whole foot, the company forsook us OG customers and folded to people who just wanted a little room for the toes and nothing else. Basically, a Hoka with a wide toe box.As far as durability, I’ve had them for a week and I’ll have to wait and see. For past shoes since the version 2s of the Lone Peak, it’s hit and miss with quality now. Lone Peaks are about the best quality shoe from Altra you can get.In these Outroads, there’s no tounge padding so not only is it too snug across the top of my foot, it’s annoying below the tongue too.So, thanks again Altra for changing and leaving us original customers to only one original fit Altra shoe per category (road/trail) of running. My final judgment, DONT BUY.Edit: After two weeks of wearing it at the hospital for work and clocking 8-12 miles a day in them, the overlay on my left big toe (check the pic) is beginning to come loose from the upper material. Like I said, Altra is not Altra anymore. While their prices increase, the quality of their shoes have not. So, as a customer, I implore you to reconsider the purchase of the Altra brand until either their prices come down to reflect the quality or they stop making junk. Topo Athletic, while not as comfortable out of the box as Altra, all have wide toe boxes and zero drop options as well. I had the Topo Ultraflys for 2.5 years and there were no signs of wear on the outer. Only the cushion inside started breaking down. I used those shoes for work also and they’ve lasted and still look great. + Topo is a bit cheaper than Altra.
