I absolutely love Altra's! I have 6 pairs of the Superior. I ha e bad knees and the zero drop just feels so much better. I wish there were more colors! You have to size up in these. I typically wear a men's 8, but I bought an 8.5. They are snug, but wearing them everyday is helping as they're stretching out some.
Altras are the only shoes I buy because they are the one brand that is consistently comfortable. This pair is no exception. I have many pairs of Altras, so there is a lot of shoe rotation that goes on. But I go to these when I want to go casual. The blue color is bright and clean-looking.
I've been wearing versions of the Altra Superior for about ten years and they've been my go-to when I need replacements. With this latest version, they seem to have changed the lasts yet again. They're both slightly longer and slightly narrower than past versions and are approaching the fit of a normal shoe.
Wonderful water resistant shoe for hiking, shoveling snow, and trail running.
5 stars for the looks, 3 for the comfort. I’ve had 5 pairs of the Superior 5’s and I’ve never worn a more comfortable shoe. They are my go to hiker, my work shoes, my daily wears, everything. The Superior 6 is no where near as comfortable and in fact they verge on hurting my feet. The toe box is still wide but the shoe is narrower overall and I’ve not been able to break them in or stretch them enough to make them wearable for more than an hour. There is no way in hell I could hike in them. I’m so disappointed. I’ll wait patiently for the 7’s to release and hope they listen to their loyal customers. I’m still a major fan of Altra and I preach them to everyone who asks and a few who don’t.
I bought these looking forward to their advertised wide toe box. I did buy the right size, I had plenty of room for my toes, and they were comfortable... At First.... But I noticed they were a little tight at the widest part of my feet, and turns out just enough to make my toes feel noticeably numb, so could not wear them for more than an hour. I wish they offered an extra wide size choice. But it's weird because I never buy a extra wide size for any shoes I have never had, this was the only pair ever to fit too tight side to side for me.
I am extremely disappointed with this piece of garbage from a company I've trusted for years. The flimsy, ill-fitting upper is going to tear at the big toe in under a month, guaranteed. Can't even get a basic orthotic insert into the shoe, simply way too tight and lacking headroom - even feels tight with the crappy factory insert taken out. Everything about this shoe, from the tongue to the laces, feels shoddy - only the sole seems decent. Five minutes out of the box and they are going back. Altra, you've really sunk to a lowly stage.
