I bought a pair of Altra running shoes and they are the most comfortable shoes I've ever owned. Altra has paid attention to the true shape of human foot - there is plenty of room for the toes.
Very comfortable right out of the box. Theses have just the right amount of padding in the footbed and I think they’ll hold up better than the shoes with mesh tops. I have some Escalate’s and Paradigm 5 , after just a short time they have holes in the mesh top.
I had a cloth version of these shoes that I wore almost daily for well over a year. After less than two months the leather on these shoes is looking pretty ratty. The fit and comfort is good, but the durability is very subpar.
I bought these shoes weeks ago.So far, very comfortable and holding up good durability wise.I have noticed some comments with complaints over durability.Shoes do wear down. It's just natural and normal. Inevitably wear will lead to tear . . . If your doing high intense activity or just lots of walking in them of course they will wear faster. It's just the way shoes no matter how much you pay for them.They are likely to get water damage as well.My only regret with these shoes is not sizing up.My Shoe size is 26.3cm so I went with a size 9 which is 27cm though I normally wear size 10 or 10.5.Size 9 would be snug or almost snug in this case but it is little extra work putting on the shoe since it's a snug fit. On the bright side there is some width or almost enough width for toes in the Shoe which is a plus.My Advice to anyone purchasing shoes including these is to measure your feet in cm to find your size.I reccomend getting a Shoe that is at least 1 to 1.5cm more than your feet cm size.Use sizing charts provided by each Shoe brand company to determine your size.Match your cm size to a size on the chart. Of course you always wanna size up or allow some extra room unless your into a snug fit.The cm size next to each shoe size number is highest feet cm size that could fit in that size in those shoes. It doesn't mean you should choose that size, but you may want to go to the next size up to allow room for a better fit.Forgot to mention . .the toe box width was one of the main reasons I bought these shoes as most other shoes/brands didn't seem to offer that.Pros . .comfortable, Wide for toe space, good fit, zero drop(if your into that as opposed to being elevated)Cons . . Pricey $$$,,hard to put it on if you get a snug size fit,, they squeak with noise when you wear them indoors . . lol (a con if noone can tolerate the squeak noise).
This is my second pair of this shoe. I bought them because they are an outstanding. They are comfortable, the toe area has room for comfort, size is correct to my true size - noguessing when ordered, and they are fantastic to wear standing or walking all day. I am a senior and stand all day. These shoes are the best!
LIKES:-Comfortable shoe- wide toe-box- cushy sole- low rise - similar to barefoot style but with cushion!DISLIKES:- sole is separating in 3 areas on shoes that are only 3 months old (poor workmanship / quality)- Altra has terrible customer service- Seller ignored my message- shoes were expensive
My husband loved them, they ran true to size and look nicer than most altras.
