Excellent Hiking Shoes

This is my third pair of these shoes. I hike every day and I only wear Altras for this. I hiked so much in the first 2 pairs that I wore them out. I only wish that Altra would do different colors for the all weather low trail runners. I am not crazy about any of the colors but this light gray yellow is the lease offending color. I liked the previous gray/orange ones better and had several pairs of those. As far as fit and performance, however, you can't beat these!

Durable, comfortable for toes, great in slippery places.

I took these with me on hiking trip to Japan. These were PERFECT for rainy, muddy trails, hills, places where I thought I might slide off the hill, etc. I do not necessarily recommend them for places with small sharp rocks. You can feel those rocks and a few aren't bad but a lot of them would hurt your arch, etc. after awhile I think. They were fine on hard rock flat surfaces and had good grip even when those surfaces were wet. They cleaned up well after the hikes. I did not run in them. The only challenge I ever had was when I wanted to stick my foot in a narrow space between two rocks, etc...this is not a shoe where your toe can sneak in somewhere due to the wide toe box.....and sometimes the back of the heel would also catch on rock lip as I was pulling foot "Out" of a smaller space for feet.....but once you realize that and use them in the correct places (not rock wall climbing...lol) you'd be fine. I thought they packed better than taller shoes and did the trick. We walked about 12 miles a day for multiple days.

Comfort in a shoe

Love them. So comfortable and they stay dry because there is no mesh to soak up the rain.

Great for running, hiking

These are excellent. I’m on my second pair. Waterproof, good gripping sole, nice wide toe box.

painful tongue on shoe

Who thought it was a good idea to change the soft cushioned tongue to something made of hard plastic with a lump in the middle. Painful. I returned it.

Love the feel - not the look after 7 days of wear.

Bought these for my daughter - going to London for 3 weeks for a College Lit Class. She wanted something all weather - these Altra's are gore tex and waterproof - due to the rainy weather and limited on luggage. She calls me after 1 week of wear to let me know about the purple rubbing off. She has had them 7 days and is a college basketball player - we have never had an issue with her shoes wearing from her stance walking or anything. Not happy with the product for this particular shoe. I have a pair of Paradigm 7 and have had no issues and love them. I have a pair of gore-tex Hokas that I walk 3 miles every morning in and have had no issues. We have contacted the company for the warranty on the shoe.Bought April 15th - delivered April 19th - she wore first time May 1 (when she came home from college to leave for London) pictures are from May 8th.

Great shoes

These are incredibly comfortable shoes, but their size tends to run on the small side. I wear a 7.5 but had to order an 8 to accommodate a long middle toe.
