FINALLY PAIN-FREE SHOES!!
I've literally spent so much money trying shoes that don't hurt. After a broken ankle, I've struggled with every other pair of shoes because they would cause lateral cramping, medial arch cramping, heel pain, toe pad pain, shin splints, and have been so challenging to try and walk in (3 different types of Merrill's, Sketchers, barefoot shoes, Nikes, Keens, and probably more). I was beginning to lose hope until someone recommended I try Altras and OMG! I read another review that said walking in these shoes is like walking on pillows and it's true! But not squishy pillows like memory foam. They are super supportive, stable, have LOTS of toe room, but they gently hug the heel and inner part of the foot for support. I wear a 9.5W and that's what I ordered and they fit perfectly! I can even wear different kinds of socks (super thin, thick, ankle/crew, footies, and there is absolutely no sliding, no rubbing, no weird pokes!). For reference, I walk on pavement, gravel trails, rocky non-trails, grass, and all terrains are comfy. I'm really excited to take them hiking because I think they'd perform great!I honestly could cry finding these because they will help me finally get moving again since my injury/WFH life. If you've been struggling with similar pains, try these! Seriously worth it!!

Super comfy and great grip!
Got these for hiking in Sedona. They were comfortable from day one. Never had to break them in and didn’t have any soreness. They have a wider toe area which is great for long hikes when your feet swell. I wore these for four days and did several long and difficult hikes. I also wore these for my wedding. We hiked two miles in very steep and rocky terrain and they were comfortable and provided a stable grip. Great shoes and I would highly recommend.

Thought I'd dislike the wide toe box, but it turned out to be my favorite feature.
I have been wearing New Balance (miminalist), Salomon (Speedcross) and more recently Inov8 (Roclite) trail running shoes for the past 8 years or so. I gave up on the minimalist idea after getting a stress fracture in my foot (since healed), loved the tops of the Salomons but not the super stiff sole (which are slippery on the mossy boulders of the PNW) and the absolutely perfect soles of the Inov8s but not the top (which would fall apart along my...ahem...conspicuous bunion). I decided to try these shoes in hopes of finding something that suited my feet and the local trail conditions better, and I did. These shoes have a wider toe box than I'm used to (my feet are narrow) but I have found that it takes the pressure off of my forefoot (and I'm a toe striker so that's nice). I like the lightweight material of the upper part and I've found the grip of the sole to be less stiff than the Salomons although not quite as perfect as the Inov8s; however, these are the most comfortable trail shoes I've worn.

Great Trail Shoes (especially if you like zero drop)
I pretty much stand behind the Altra brand, and in planning my 40th birthday trip for Mt. Whitney, I decided to try a little more cushy trail Altra in lieu of my favourite go to King MT1.5's (that line is now frustratingly discontinued, but I digress). Reading up on this 22-mile adventure showed a few recommendations for the Lone Peak 5's—great excuse for new shoes, right?! Well, the local store didn't have my size in stock, so I let the lady talk me into a pair of Hokas. One test run in those reminded me again why Hoka's are a no go for this zero heel to toe drop "runner". I typically wear size 6.5 in trainers and my other Altras, and 6 in everyday shoes, so I originally ordered a 6.5, but it was much too big and wide for my foot. I quickly decided to try again, and the size 6's arrived with 1 day to spare! They are noticeably heavier than the Hoka Torrents, but that's because they do have a rock plate and some aggressive tread, so I expected that. They were simply lovely on my 5-mile acclimation run the day before at the trailhead. As for 22+ miles in them, I'd say they were a win there as well. I felt sure of foot on all types of surfaces hiking and when I did some running coming off the summit throughout that mile to the portal, although they didn't save me from loose gravel coming down one of the last of the dreaded 97/99 switchbacks, but that was on poor foot/weight placement and not the shoes. By mile 19.5, I'd say I could have been walking barefoot or in combat boots (I've done that too), and I wouldn't have known the difference, as by that point I was pretty much over the whole day—next milestone birthday is going to be spent somewhere like Italy or Spain...what a wreck I was after.

Super comfortable for wide feet
The wide toe box is great, and I love the zero drop. I feel the zero drop is a much more natural and healthy way to walk/run, especially for those who tend to lean forward a bit, and not fully use their glute muscles. They are nicely cushioned and my new favorite shoes. They do not offer support for flat and pronating feet like mine, so to make them perfect, I will need a custom orthotic. Off the shelf orthotics will not allow for the wide toe area. They seem to run a tad long, if between sizes, probably best to go down. This may be due to the contours, as more room is provided at the big toe than other athletic shoes.

Great product
I bought these to replace a pair of Avia Lone Peak 4.5 that I bought 3 years ago and almost wore out. The new ones are just as comfortable and have some nice new features- longer “tongue “ and shoelaces with the extra lace holes, which my old ones did ‘t have. I have to wear custom orthotic inserts now due to new foot issues and I was easily able to remove the inserts that came with the shoes and the custom ones fit perfectly. These have all the good qualities of the old shoes (such as a great toe box ) plus the improvements. I hike a lot and these fit the bill.
