Great shoes, been wearing for over a month now
Absolutely love these. I had knee surgery before going to Ireland. They made it to where I had a great time!! Buying more! My daily work shoes and waterproof! They are waterproof and a bit more snug then my other Altras so take that into consideration when purchasing. They softened up over time. Been wearing them every day in bad weather! Love them!!

Almost perfect max cushion shoes
Pros- got it on sale, less than $120.Like the red color and feels sturdy towithstand tears unlike mesh material.Feels more cushiony if you use paddedinserts as additional insoles.Like this style a lot & maybe a bit betterthan Torin’s for max cushion.Arrived a week earlier.Cons- Agree with other reviewers, outsidematerial of shoes feel stiffer possiblybecause made to be water resistant. Butthis shoe feels way stiffer as comparedto waterproof style of Lone Peak’s #4.Not a fan of the newer tongue designsAltra shoes where the sides of thetongue are sewn inside of the shoes, very uncomfortable because of mywide midfoot area, so I had to cut thesides of the tongue making it morecomfortable by the first row of laces& better flexibility at the beginning ofthe midfoot area. Also, if you need tocut the sides of the tongue for betterflexibility & comfort, cut on the sewedarea of the tongue & maybe theplastic part of the tongue won’t get tornand have an open separation inside theshoe. Unfortunately this happened.I’ve done this before on my Torin 4 butthis style and quality of the tongue isn’tas good as the original tongue areasmade by Altras in previous styles. Why can’t Altras make the tongue loose& separated from the inside again?

They fall apart.
I bought these shoes a year ago so I would have them for this summer. I started wearing them in June 2025 off and on and the inside lining by the left heal came apart. I taped them so I could wear them. This morning I noticed the rubber part on the right heal is detaching from the shoe. I have had Altras before and they wear out after a month so these were no better. I love the shoe but I expect them to last at least 5 months.

Comfort and Durability
These are very comfortable footwear and they have great traction in the trails. I love the fact that they are wide in the toes. I did 5 miles the first hike I did with these and I never slipped on the rocks or the pine needles. I wore themaround the house for a couple days to get them broken in and they were good to go. I love the color and the support. Great hiking footwear—-highly recommend!!

Pros and cons
I have worn out two pair Olympus shoes and I need a shoe suitable for cold wet weather, so I was excited to see Altra made it Gortex lined. However, the shoe is far from being one of my favorites. The Gortex, high platform sole (to maneuver through puddles of rain water) and the color gray are just about the only thing I really like about this shoe. Cons are; 1. They are very stiff and feel more like wearing heavy duty boots and they are bulky looking. 2. The laces are round... I know that is minor, but they don't stay tied as well as flat laces do. 3. The heel cup is shallow and give the feeling they will slip off. I removed the insole and trimmed about 1/4 inch off the toe so it would slide further into the front of the shoe and that gave a bit more depth to the heel cup. The shoe is not perfect for me by any stretch of the imagination, but the cons will not keep me from wearing these because I highly value warm, dry feet in the winter.
