Thrilled!!!

I can no longer wear typical shoes as my feet are happiest in a wide toe box so imagine the joy of my piggie toes in these amazingly comfortable well made altra road shoes. I walk long distances and my feet are never cramped, achy or tired after. Soooo Happy. I have not had any knee or joint issues so the support is perfect.

Comfy, long lasting

This is my second pair of these shoes and I'm obsessed. I wore them to work where I'm either standing or walking for more than 8 hours. I also wore them to a festival that was in a parking lot, where we walked 15k steps a day. They are so comfortable, even at the end of long days. I am known to twist my ankle in about every shoe I wear but not in these, the bottom provides a great base for stability. I will definitely continue these shoes

Comfy and surprisingly durable

Well I wore these shoes almost daily for a full year. I went traveling with them as my only shoe and then extended my trip so… I wore them a lot. Hiking, at the gym, walking city streets and cobblestones, in the rain, in the mud. Although they got a bit trashed they held up. I did eventually get holes in the top of both shoes near my big toes and the front sole started peeling off one shoe within the first month! But other than that they still look decent thanks to the dark navy color. I’m a huge fan of Altra, I have 4 pairs. My light colored ones look terrible - stained by mud- but they also held up after lots of miles. Great shoes. Now I need a new pair to replace these!

Wide toe box, narrow heal, super comfy

Pros: I found these shoes recommended for folks who want a wide toebox, but a narrow heel, and these deliver beautifully. I generally like to go barefoot, or have shoes that feel like I’m not wearing shoes - but needed some shoes with more padding for running and working out. I’ve been comfortable from the moment that I put them on - I am 100% satisfied with my purchase.Cons: my husband says they look a little dorky, because they have a very thick white sole, and the construction is a little bit more minimalist than the Reeboks that I tried on… I wouldn’t say that they are cheaper construction, but they certainly have less bells and whistles than the Reeboks.

MIGHT BE TOO COMFORTABLE IF YOU HAVE POOR FOOT MECHANICS

This is not a shoe review so much as it is a warning about these super comfortable shoes in relation to the structure of your foot. My experience has shown me that a minimalist shoe does not offer the support I need with my improper foot mechanics. If you wear these shoes, be sure you change any bad habits positioning your feet when sitting, standing, walking, running, driving.I love Altra shoes. My podiatrist liked my first pair of Altras when he saw them. Altras have a generous toe box, zero drop heel to enable you to stand up straight and shift your weight properly (as you would in bare feet), and Altras are super comfortable. I have owned two pair, and I love them. Unfortunately, I’ve discovered that for me, who has poor foot mechanics and a plethora of foot issues, they are too comfortable. I have high arches, narrow heels, wide forefront, am pigeon-toed, my feet supinate, AND I’m pushing 60 -- these shoes are too comfortable.Let me explain: since I can move my feet so freely in my Altras, I’ve noticed that I turn my right foot inward much more often when turning while walking, exercising, when driving (moving just my right forefoot to tap the brakes), when sitting and crossing my ankles at rest. The result of these bad habits? The right edge of my right foot is inflamed; I have peroneal tendonitis. I now have to wear an ankle protection sleeve and stay off my feet as much as possible until the inflammation goes away, and that will be a few weeks.(If you think your feet have the same issues, read on; if not, by all means, buy the shoes.)I bought my first pair in July of last year. By February, I went to the podiatrist because the outer edge of my right foot was inflamed and had gotten worse (caused by repetitive stress from turning my forefoot inward repeatedly. To feel this movement, visualize a clock. Point your right toe toward 10 o’clock, or your left toe to 2 o’clock.) I just figured it was time for a new pair of shoes, so I bought this model of Altras in March. My podiatrist sold me some standard orthotics and boom, the foot felt better for a few weeks.A week ago, I went back with the same problem. Both times it has developed gradually (not because of an injury). It is often difficult to pinpoint what you are doing to cause peroneal tendonitis. You just have to pay attention to what your feet are doing and how they are doing it all day.My podiatrist recommended Voltaren cream four times a day, ibuprofen twice a day, and a Smart Fit Protective Ankle sleeve (they have them on the Smart Marketing website; sorry, I don't know what brand it is yet as it has not arrived). I also looked up walking shoes for all the aforementioned issues (wide, generous toe box, narrow heel, supination, fairly high arch). Based on that, I bought these on Amazon: New Balance Women's 577 V1 Lace-up Walking Shoe. I just got them today, put my orthotics in, used the top eyelets for heel lock lacing for my narrow heels, and have worn them a few hours. So far, they are supportive. I hate to give up my Altras, but I have no choice. ☹Again, Altra shoes are NOT the reason I have peroneal tendonitis. It’s because I exacerbate poor habits when I wear these comfy, minimalist shoes. Sorry for the tome, but I have so much trouble getting shoes that work for me, and so little information is online for my specific issues. I have found info. in the oddest places, like a random review. ;)

Perfect for a wide foot

These shoes are awesome! I have a wide toebox, but a narrow heel, which makes finding shoes to fit comfortably very difficult. But these shoes are perfect for me! They have great colors, the tractions awesome, Great value for the money, and so far quite durable - not to mention adorable!
