Comfy and stylish

Love these shoes! They are great for hitting the trail, provide enough support for moderate hikes, and have a wide toe box so my feet have plenty of room to be free! Very comfortable.

My favorite shoes

Love these shoes. This was my second pair. The color was fun without being too showy. Super comfortable after foot surgery.

Best travel shoe for Europe

I traveled in central Europe in the spring, where you can get some serious downpours and also dry and hot days. I walked 9-14 miles a day for 5 weeks and along with good socks, had happy and comfortable feet. The tread is great for traction on wet and slippery cobblestones/stone stairs and the cushioning was superior. These shoes do not squish my toes and the back of the ankle is high enough to not blister. I wore 1/4 socks with these, the tongue while thin and flexible is high too and with no-show socks you will feel it. I also bought the elastic shoe laces in navy to match the body of the shoe for less contrast and I liked the look and ease of putting my shoe on and pulling it off. They also dried quickly after rainstorms.(update) I finally tossed these shoes after 2,000,000 steps or 1,000 miles. I was a tourist in Portugal recently and walked lots of hills, cobblestones, and slippery tile. The tread was quite worn down although not flat yet. They weren't slippery but they also weren't as supportive.

Comfortable!

I've dabbled in the "zero-drop" shoe on and off over the years. I needed new shoes for my job as a RN, which requires a lot of movement. I've had several brands over the years, but never thought to use a zero-drop variety at work. I have been wearing these for a week now, and am really enjoying them. The toe box is roomy and the footbed is squishy, in the best way possible. I really like the colors, too. The only gripe I have is that the tongue does not stay in place- it looks like it should, but it slides to the side no matter what I do. Overall, I'm pleased with this shoe.

Great travel Altra, but not a great Altra

I am a long time Altra fan - this is the 6th model I’ve tried. I run, trail run, and hike in my other Altras, and my feet love the shape and zero drop. I read all the reviews on Amazon before I bought these Timps and I agree with them all. The tongue is sharp - they’re fine after you break them in or even early on with crew socks, but if you’re expecting to wear them with ankle socks right out of the box you’ll regret it. Compared to Altra’s other trail shoes like the Lone Peak line, both the upper and the sole of the Timp are flimsy and weak, the tread of the Timp is way less sharp and grippy than that of the Lone Peak, and they are much narrower than other “classic” Altra styles. I don’t see these lasting forever, or even more than 100-150 miles, but I was okay with that because I didn’t buy them to be a high-mileage running shoe.I bought these as a hopeful “do everything” travel shoe. They are lightweight and packable and quick-dry. The teal color is beautiful and they are attractive enough to wear with street clothes, fine for casual dinners, tours, or even work trips with a laid-back company. They are super squishy so great for long easy walks. They were also on sale for $80 which makes them competitive with other shoes designed for travel or walking or “athleisure”. They certainly won’t work for real trails and also won’t hold up to long road runs, but they would be fine for long walks, quick jogs, workouts, and light “hikes”, the kind of stuff one does while traveling to stay fit and explore, but not to train seriously or compete. Overall, I think these would be a super travel shoe for someone who wants a comfy, zero-drop, wider toe box shoe to do everything they need from a sneaker while packing light, but definitely don’t buy these as an alternative to Altra’s other better shoes if you plan to run or hike seriously or long-distance.I ended up returning them - I prefer my Altras to be wider in the toe and lower stack, and these being so squishy yet narrow felt unstable for me. I felt that these were too much of a divergence from the Altras that I love, so I opted to clean up an old almost-dead pair of Lone Peaks for my travel shoe of choice (since the Lone Peak 6 upper still looks brand new, just muddy, and the sole is still intact, just not as toothy, even after 400 miles of trail running).

Super cute and they don’t hurt my problematic feet!

Wide toe box. Zero drop. The podiatrists are right. If you have problematic feet, those are the two pieces of criteria you need to use to find shoes that help your feet instead of hurt them. What makes these even better they have both of those features plus they’re good looking. They don’t look like old people shoes. I’ve tried Hokas, the toe box is too narrow. And I’ve tried any other brand that offers a wide toe box and zero drop. Altras fit better, look on trend, and give me longer pain-free walking than any other shoe I’ve found.

Favorite shoe ever!

Just wish they lasted longer! Fits perfect (to size), super comfy & not too ugly like other running shoe options. However, they just do not last more than a 9 mo to a year (tops!). I run between 5-15 miles a week. I have to replace these often. They are $$ to be replacing that often which is a bummer, but I just love these shoes. I have tried other Altras and this has a bit more cushion than the Peaks or whatever they are called, which is very nice on rocks, roots, etc. Just wish their road shoes were better and wish they held up better.
