My new favorite hiking shoes
I got a pair of the dark purple ones from REI, but they didn’t have this grey/black/turquoise color in the store. So when I saw them on Amazon, I had to get them. I love these so much. They’re so lightweight, you feel like you’re not wearing shoes. Ankle support is a must for me. I like the wide toe box, and the fact that there’s not all that much cushioning in the shoe, so you feel like you’re getting a more natural workout. I wore these in the rain in the Smoky Mountains, and they have good traction as well as waterproofing. As with all hiking shoes, I recommend getting a size larger than what you’d wear in normal shoes.

Comfiest hiking shoe I’ve ever owned
These shoes are perfect for trails, hiking, or just getting caught out in the wilderness. I wanted some new hiking shoes that were lighter than by boots and still have support, ankle stability and water resistant. I had brought these shoes on my trip to Utah and they required zero breaking in. I actually wore these shoes even when I wasn’t hiking they were that comfortable. I hiked Bryce, Zion, Arches, lower antelope canyon and trails all around Utah and I was impressed.

COMFORT!
This is the second pair of Altra I have bought recently, one low and one mid waterproof. I can't say enough good things about them. They have been completely comfortable right out of the box no break in time needed. Usually I take a wide in shoes, not needed with this style of Altra. My toes can spread out. The sole grip is outstanding. For a lightweight shoe the support is excellent. So far they have been waterproof although I have not done a lot of hiking in the rain. I have a high arch and instep and I am finding the laces, particularly on the mid shoe could stand to be an inch or two longer. There is not a lot of lace to tie a full bow. I wish I had discovered Altra sooner.

Makes your feet sweat so bad
They were suuuuuper comfortable. There was one huge issue with them though. They made my feet sweat worse than any shoe ever before! Like the entire inside of the shoe was soaked. And it was COLD out. Frequently, I go backpacking, and I have never had such a sweaty feet problem in my whole life as I did when I wore these shoes. If I were to take these backpacking, I’d have to put on wet sweaty shoes the next day. That won’t work for me. I asked fellow backpackers about this brand and they are all sharing the same feedback, so it’s not just me
