Immediate comfort no break in required
I am breaking up with my other shoes after trying my first pair of Altras. Was worried when it was a little hard to tug them on but once on, they felt great. The key issue for me is having comfortable toes and this pair of shoes answered the call. No need to break them in for weeks until they felt comfortable. I trekked nine miles the first wearing and didn't have any pinching or crowding in the toe box. My foot is not wide but I need room for my arthritic toes. The rest of the shoe fit snugly. I read that this particular model is the smallest of the three foot shapes offered by Altra and I think it is perfect for me. A wider foot may need one of the other shapes. Now I am just hoping these are DURABLE. Will edit my review if they wear out too fast. After just six or seven jogs/walks, I can't judge on that yet.

Great shoes, an even better price.
The sizing does run a bit small. I’m usually a 7.5 but an 8 fit perfect. Very comfortable shoe for running- I love the wide toe box. I’ve put around 30 miles on these shoes already and they are holding up great. The price for these online are a steal- Fleet Feet wanted $130 for the same shoes.

Good but not my favorite Altra shoe
I currently have the altra torrin 5s, one pair for running (15-20 miles a week) and wear one for work. I purchased size 7 in both the torins and these, the riveras. I think the Rivera run smaller and if I were using these for anything other than daily wear, I'd return and get a half size up. The riveras definitely have a smaller Toe box and width overall. They are extremely comfy and good for walking, I haven't tried running nor do I plan on using these for running. One star off for the sizing and narrowness for a shoe brand that is known for their wider Toe boxes

Very squeaky shoes
The price was right and the shoes are lightweight and decently comfortable. I do not run in them but walk 3-5 miles a day at work. Within a day or two, one shoe started making a squeaking noise. After another few days, the other one started too. They are very loud and it doesn’t matter what surface you are walking on or if it’s wet or dry. I can push on the bottoms of both shoes with my fingers and they will squeak. It’s like there is something inside the sole. I don’t wear them as often as I’d like because they are so annoying to listen to all day. I won’t get as long of use out of them for this reason. There is no way I will buy another pair and risk them making the same noise. I think I read another review mentioning a squeak too. Seems like a manufacturing or design defect. It’s a shame because I like my other Altra shoes-(Lone Peak model).

Walking again! Without pain!
I had almost stopped walking at all. Every shoe hurt. I have hammer toes and need a wider toe box. Usually I had to wear men's shoes. Charming. I bought these after reading a review in a running magazine. At that point, I felt utter despair so why not? I had just bought 2 pairs of different styles of Skechers, advertised for wider toe boxes. Neither worked. These are heavenly! Wide enough for my toes, firm enough to keep my feet secure, and soft enough footbed to cushion toes that push into the ball of my foot, creating painful sore spots. The first time I wore them, I cried. I had not been able to walk without pain for a long time. Now, I'm walking without thinking about protecting my feet from pain. Life is good again. Oh, and those ads for "just stepping into your shoes" without hassle? I removed the laces and replaced them with elastic laces which stay knotted so I just step in and get walking! Bliss!

Great shoe quality
I really love this shoe. It’s comfortable. I own the Rivera 3 Version and they are slightly different but also similar. The Rivera 2 is a smidge smaller but honestly I wouldn’t size up for it. After a good walk they stretched just enough that they’re perfect. I wear a 7 in both the Rivera 2 and 3. These are a little more weight then the Rivera 3 but not at all a dislike or issue, just something I’ve noticed. Overall great show. Ordered two colors. Love Altra’s!

Comfortable running shoe
I bought these sneakers a year ago from a running store. I was previously wearing Hokas and having a lot of ankle pain after my runs. I was unsure about these because they had so much less cushion then the Hokas. It took me about a month to really adjust to the difference but they were EXACTLY what I needed! They made my legs stronger and my form is WAY better running in these. I also love the wider toe so my feet can do what they’re designed to do during a run. I just bought a second pair since I’ve worn out my first. I’ve had zero injuries since running in these sneakers and my legs, calves, ankles and feet are so much stronger!
