These are the best shoes ever you can dress up dress down. They are super comfortable. They do stretch. I tried on the size 9 at a store and thought they were too small and ordered a 9 1/2 the 9 1/2 felt great for the first few days and then they stretched out so I ordered a size 9 now that I know they stretch . Most comfortable shoes I’ve owned.
I live in FL, so socks are optional/unnecessary about 10 mos of the year. I order these shoes in my regular size and wear them barefoot, or with a *very* thin no-show sock. Even then, my regular size is about 1/4 to 1/8 size short. It’s not uncomfortable, just be aware that if you want some breathing room for your longest toe, or you expect to wear socks, a half-size up is a good idea. These shoes are also not for feet wider than a standard B, and could probably fit an A, maybe with a light sock.All that aside, these are deliciously comfortable, cushiony ( but not mushy) loafers. The leather is good quality and the construction is solid, as you’d expect. I recommend them with five “aaaahhhhhs,” as long as you take my cautions into account.Also, even though they call this color “taupe” it is as shown on the web page—tan or sand or khaki. There are no gray tones—a great summer neutral, and the pink band on the sole looks great, not at all garish.
I normally wear a size 8.5M or 9 in shoes. The first pair I ordered in a size 9 was defective but I didn't realize it since I had never worn this brand or style of shoe. The right foot was too loose and the leather along the sides stuck out- especially when bending my foot. The top of the toe-bed was not sewn properly creating a warped/twist on the entire shoe's leather. I ended up ordering a size 8.5 in hopes that the issue was just size but they were way too tight so I finally tried another size 9 and they fit perfectly. These shoes have a very comfy insole. I wouldn't say they are narrow but they are definitely on the narrow side of medium width. If you have a truly wide foot, you may not be able to wear these. Since I ordered my usual half-size larger ( size 9) they worked for me and are comfortable and will most likely stretch with continued wear. I also ordered a set of Helloheel Fitter Grips to help cushion the inside of the heel and prevent slippage. However, with the new pair I haven't needed to use them. Just thought I should mention them as an option in case any of you have heel slippage.
My usual size of 10 felt a bit too loose in general so I ordered a half a size down. Wanted to wear them WITHOUT any socks and the insides are SO comfortable. Half size down perfect. Ordered a second pair because the looks are so much fun! I love them. I may have to order a couple more so in a few years when I look for them again and they aren’t available I will have some! Highly recommended!!!
In all fairness, I’m sometimes between sizes so the larger one was too big so I will return and order half a size smaller. Man are these comfortable!! Soft, plenty of cushion....if the half size smaller fits me, I’m certain I will buy other colors. Great quality just like I would expect from Ariat. These seem like the perfect spring/summer shoe when you don’t want to wear open toes but can get away with footies and a boat style shoe. These are way cuter than most boat shoes and they don’t make your feet look like....well...boats. I def think they are worth the price tag and I haven’t even tried on the correct size!! They are as comfortable as slippers but seem pretty sturdy/well made too. Great detail. Love!!
Update:I just received my replacement. I wasn't able to get the same pattern but I'm really happy with what I got instead. I actually like the skid cheetah print better. They are super comfortable. A little bit snug but according to other reviews, they should stretch. I think I'll be really happy with these.First off all, I'm in love with these shoes! They are beautiful & so so soft. I am usually an 8 or 8.5. Based on other reviews, I ordered an 8.5. I tried them on with socks & my right heel was slipping so I have started the return process & have reordered an 8. I am so excited to get them. I'm a little irritated that the price went from $65ish to $82ish by going down half a size. If I didn't like them so much, I wouldn't have reordered. The price jump made me hesitate to reorder the right size. If I were in a store it would be an even exchange. Makes me feel like I'm being taken advantage of.Pros: so soft & very comfortable. I imagine they will stretch with wear & conform to my foot. They are very well made & don't look like cheap house slippers.Cons: not much arch support. Pricing is inconsistent.
I ordered the red and LOVE the look of them. Right out of the box, they were not comfortable on my left toe. The problem was my socks combined with a piece of elastic on the inside of the shoe. If I wear regular socks (not the “no show” ones) then I should be okay. They take a while to break in and aren’t 100% comfortable yet. They are super cute and they spruce up jeans very nicely. ***UPDATE***. I just received a second pair I ordered. I bought the "bomber" color and I love it! It goes with everything and it is a shoe that can be worn all year. I recommend it highly for comfort and style.
