Great fit, good room in the toe box. After I was sure they fit, I figured I'd wear them to break them in while visiting my friend. We pulled her horses out to brush them a bit, then she said, hey let's go for a short ride. Well lucky for me I had these boots on, because they have the stirrup heel. Very secure for riding, AND walking around on uneven ground. Five stars.Follow-up almost two years later, May 2019: Still 5-Stars; I'd give them 10 if possible. Hands down, these are my sturdiest most comfortable footwear, that includes my New Balance sneakers, Hotter casuals, Clarks, and Vionic shoes. After wearing them about a month I added a Birkenstock orthotic, then laid the insole back over the top of it. The result made an all day comfort walking boot with a custom feel: fantastic arch support, ankle stablization, and a super comfortable toe box.My feet are very happy in these boots. My foot is shaped like a duck's, with a narrow heel, wide toes, and a high arch, so I need the elusive "combination last" shoe: hard to find in US shoes these days. Also got my own horse last year, so now I wear these boots 3-5 days a week and add half chaps whenever riding. For winter I swap them out for the waterproof version.Pro Tip: They slip on easily with a long-handled shoehorn which also keeps the ankle support strong. Shoehorn is like this: https://smile.amazon.com/Long-Handled-Metal-Shoe-Horn/dp/B01MZY9CUC/ref=sr_1_27?keywords=long+shoehorn&qid=1556804218&s=gateway&sr=8-27
Writing this review 3 years after purchasing. I still own and wear these at least weekly. They have been through hundreds of hikes (snow, mud, creeks, rocky terrain, etc), horseback riding, even whitewater rafting - and have held up so well! Besides being chronically dirty, these are in as good of shape as the day I got them. They are supportive and never fall off my feet despite the stickiest mud traps. They have great traction and have saved this clutz from falling more times than I can count. True to size. I pretty much wear them to anything I wouldn't want to wear my nicer sneakers to! By far my favorite purchase for hiking in the last decade!
I have used these boots for riding, hiking, barn chores, and snow for many years. This is my fourth pair. I love the fit. They run a bit wider in the toe box so size down if you have a narrow foot. There is enough room for cushy socks.I love the interior sole inserts for their support and comfort.. The leather quality is very good and will last with regular cleaning and conditioner. The frequency of such depends on the environment you wear them in. Mine see a great deal and still do well. Highly recommend.
Great boots to wear any time . Supportive well made. Protect ankles. Can walk well with these boots.
I haven't worn them all day yet but I think they would be comfortable for all day wear. They are perfect fit. I wear a 9 and I bought a 8.5 based on measuring my foot by their size chart and they are perfect. I think if you want to wear a thick sock you would need a 9. I wear light to mid weight socks. I don't like the heel platform but I see that without it there wouldn't be a good arch support unless you placed a arch support in the boot but with the heel platform it allows for a natural arch support feel. The width is good for a normal medium width foot. It you have a wide foot, you might need to go wider as even with the leather stretching it would take some time for the boot to stretch to a wider foot bed. I am not an expert on boots but these feel great so far and I can see myself wearing them for quite some time. I hope they hold up but if I have any problems with them down the line or if I find them to be superb I will update my post. I like the color (timber) berry pink. I wanted something that wasn't masculine looking but was functional for walking over rough terrain. The laces appear to tie and stay tied. The heel cup fits well without being snug and the cut out at the back of the boot keeps the boot from rubbing the back of my ankle. If you tie the ties too tight the boot hits when you bend your foot forward but it appears there will be a break in period for that portion of the boot but that is a problem I have with most hiking boots anyway, so it could just be me. The insoles seem to have quite a bit of give which is nice in a boot and for me is an issue as I have achy heels with most of my shoes/boots. Overall I am happy with my purchase. I am still trying to figure out why the same boot in a different colors is more or less in costs. It seems quite strange as it is the same boot.
The boot is darker than the photo. Otherwise, it is beautiful. Has a rugged look that suits us outdoor women, but is still cute and somehow, with the dark leather and animal print, looks feminine. I followed the advice of other customers and ordered my shoe size. Normally I go a half size larger for boots, so I was nervous about fit. However, the advice was right. Wearing a lightweight sock, the boots fit perfectly. Comfortable right away, tho a bit stiff, which probably means good support for long walks, hikes or outdoor work. The soles are not perfectly smooth but do lack the typical hiking boot tread. Not sure how it will fare on rough, adventurous hikes but certainly willing to test them, or just wear during the winter for trips to the mall for an indoor hike ( my local mall is full of ramps and staircases). Really love the boot and highly recommend, despite the smoothish tread.
