Comfortable, stable tennis shoe

I have worn Asics running shoes since high school and always wanted to try the tennis shoe but they weren't distributed where I live. Finally, I got this pair of shoes as it was moderately priced and supposed to be good quality.I have worn it to practice tennis on har-tru courts the past few weeks and am very happy with my choice. The shoes are snug and stable without pinching or rubbing against my toes. I find them much lighter than other tennis shoes I've worn. They're light enough for forward dashes and stable enough for side-to-side.All in all I'm very happy with them and my next tennis shoe, whenever these wear out, will be Asics.

Ultimate Tennis Shoe at a good Price

These were for my 15 year old son. He wears a size 12. Sizing was spot on. He is on the high school team and uses these shoes for 2 to 3 hours everyday during practice or games. The lateral support has been excellent. The insole provides enough extra comfort. The shoe has been durable thus far after 2 months of intense use. They look sharp too!

Simply Great

Running and tennis shoes, ASICS is my go-to brand. Predictable fit. Always good. For my feet this brand just always works. These are my best tennis shoes so far though because they’re so stable. This is probably because of the strengthened sides, which is really nice when moving sideways.I can see myself sticking with this particular type.UPDATE April 2022: Got myself a second pair, when prices (which fluctuate greatly) came down. So, yeah, pretty, pretty good!Update April 2023: Just started wearing my fourth pair. I do a lot of rackets sports so I get new shoes every six months.Update March 2024: Wearing my sixth pair; just ordered my seventh pair. 'Nuff said?Update July 2025: After seven pairs of these (I replace every 4-5 months because I play a lot of racquet sports) no more! They have the Challenger 14, which proves that not all changes are in fact improvements as it doesn't have the same lateral movement support.

Great supportive shoe, durable!

Pros: Great Suport, we’ll made, durable and decent price for high quality shoeCons: Runs narrow based upon past experiences with Ascics. I have worn Ascics for many years and this one definitely runs more narrow than others I’ve worn. Once I wore it a few times (hoping it would stretch or loose up) I wasn’t comfortable sending back after using it.Otherwise love the shoe!! To compensate for the narrow area I loosen up lower shoe strings considerably.

Perfect for Pickleball

These are my husbands favorite shoes to play pickleball with. He had adidas, but they seemed to wear out faster. These look nice when worn and are comfortable. They hold up to the back and forth movement on the court. He is usually a size 14, but sized down to a 13 for a snug fit.

Too long and too narrow

I purchased a pair of these but returned them almost immediately. I have D-width flat feet, and was intrigued by the "wing wall" support technology. I had hoped that they would be similar to the "guiderail" system used in my Brooks Adrenaline running shoes, only to find out of the box (and in typical Asics fashion) that the support system was a stiff plastic. Despite being labeled as a slightly wide, low arch, and true-to-size shoe, these failed to fit. In fact, they pinched my midfoot and drove the tip of the wing wall directly into the underside of my outer foot, no matter how I adjusted the lacing, and were also 1/2" too long in the toe-box. Overall, I was very disappointed because of the quality materials used in the construction of the shoe itself; it's not a top-tier price, but the upper and outsole could have convinced me otherwise.

Good value, stable, a little clunky towards the toes

I am a 3.5-4.0 USTA tennis player playing mostly outdoor hardcourts in the northeast. My previous experience with tennis sneakers were a pair of Asics Gel dedicate 8’s which although darn ugly looking, felt lightweight and extremely sturdy to me without feeling onerously bulky or cumbersome. I felt invincible in those shoes. I think I wore through the outsoles on those. These shoes:Size: In these Asics Gel resolution shoes, I found them to be true to my size of men’s 11.5 though roomy at the toes. Probably enough for those with narrow feet to size half a size down if they want a tighter fitting shoe. Me personally, I like having the extra room in a tennis shoe so that my toes don’t get demolished every time I stop my weight or slide after a dash.Feel, Support, and Maneuverability: the rear heal cushioning and ankle support felt comparable (in a good way) to the Gel Dedicate 8 model, a little heavier though I haven’t checked actual weights to compare. These Gel Resolutions feel solid but don’t hug my feet as nicely overall especially in the mid and forward parts of the foot. I didn’t feel “one” with the sneakers until near the end of their useful life after 3-5 months of playing in them. They feel just slightly clunky but after months of playing with them I got used to it and they feel normal as I write this review and throw out the shoes. I did NOT get that issue some people mentioned about the side plastic piece of the shoe feeling like it was digging into my foot, and I have very flat and slightly wide feet so I would think I’d have been the ideal victim for them. For support I would rate these shoes at least 4/5, for comfort at least 3.5+/5, and for maneuverability and lightweight feel I would give exactly 3/5.Grip: Grip was initially good, as good as you’d expect from tennis shoes. I used these babies almost solely on hard courts in nyc northeast america. Had no issues the few times I played on clay, but I don’t have enough clay experience to complain either way. UNFORTUNATELY, these last couple sessions the grip felt like it magically turned off overnight and I had to become much more cautious with my footwork so that I don’t trip from my toes sliding out when I try to perform a hard plant of my feet on the run to hit a ball. I immediately knew the shoes were no longer safe for tennis and I am tossing them as a result, even though visually one would say the outsole has 15-40% of its life remaining. Until these recent 2 sessions the grip had been as good as ever, but then I walked onto the court the other day and noticed the severe lack of grip as I walked onto the court. It was shocking because I expected the grippinness to fade slowly as I got through the outsoles. Grip when normal was 5/5, at end of life 1/5.Durability: These shoes look and feel seriously durable. I thought they would be good until I wore through the outsoles, but as I mentioned the outsoles lost their grip well before they physically got worn all the way down. The shell of the shoe is synthetic and durable, the laces are GREAT they hold a knot with no slippage or drama, the outsole lasted half of my last season and the first half of this season of tennis, so 3-5 months of playing 2-3 times a week 1-3 hours per session on hardcourts at an intermediate level (I am a young man though so I move around and run plenty). The last session I played with these, 3-5 months of playing, on my right shoe when I had to move to a hard stop laterally to my right handed forehand it felt like the toe section of the inner sole was collapsing and as if the outsole or shell of the shoe was failing/folding onto my toes (ouch!). I took the laces out and took out the insole and looked into the shoe, it turns out in perfect sync with the outsole losing its grippiness, the insole foam cushion also failed at the area of the two biggest toes at my right foot. Failing as in becoming permanently flat and allowing all feeling to go through under pressure, so on a hard stop it was like my toes were pressing directly into the hard/rough interior of the sneakers with no insole cushion. So I found the way the shoes became useless to be interesting, but they lasted one season of serious practice and movement. I rate the durability 3.5+/5 as I haven’t owned a pair that lasted more than 6/7 months of playing.Looks: I think these are actually pretty nifty looking shoes especially for tennis shoes. They are still kind of an ugly white, a little bulky or clunky in shape, and are obviously synthetic material not prepped to be as aesthetically pleasing as possible so I don’t love wearing these to anything except tennis. But I give it high points for aesthetics as a tennis shoes 4/5.Value: I think I paid between $68-86 for these tennis shoes. I got a season’s worth of hard use out of them and say that’s a good value 4+/5.These shoes deserve at least a 3.5 star rating, wouldn’t be wrong to give them 4/5.
