Wasn't expecting to, because I only had about a month of training with them, but ran the 2016 Honolulu Marathon in these shoes (my 2nd marathon).Last year I wore Asics Cumulus 15's and they were fine. My legs only hurt for the next 3 or 4 days (but my right knee was sore for a more than a week). I was actually planning on wearing those Cumulus's again, but these shoes came in and they were a great fit for me! I was a little worried because they were still relatively new, and I'm not sure how long the break-in period for shoes should be.In any case, I don't know if I trained more this year, if I should have pushed myself to run faster (though I improve to 5:45, down from 6:30 last year), or if these shoes (Flux 2) were the reason, but my legs and knees were virtually pain free the next day! These shoes feel solid (trained on sidewalks and grass) and cool (feet don't get super sweaty). They also look nice!!! I've owned many pairs of Asics, but this is the only pair I really felt like reviewing. I don't know if I can trust Ascis's foot chart (the one matches their shoes to specific pronation states) as the Cumulus and Flux are identified for the same type of feet (but feel so different to me now), but I'm glad that I got these (from Amazon Warehouse, no less!) and will be buying the Flux 2 (or 3) for next year's marathon.

Cushioned, long run trainers
I bought the ASICS Gel-Flux 2 for a specific race coming up; a 1500 ft uphill 5k with no downhill portion. Thought process is instead of running with my regular shoes (Mizuno Wave Inspires) with much less heel drop, I'd have a higher heel drop to help keep feet/legs more aligned as fatigue sets in. That race is a week away.In the meantime to get used to the difference I need to try these out, right? After wearing them twice and logging 10 miles I think I have found a long distance trainer that cushions every strike on the pavement! The overall ride is plush with still some road feel in the forefoot - am a midfoot striker and this is a great shoe.I have a slight supination in my stride and these roll with the foot better than most shoes I have run in; maybe my old NB 890 V1 were better though they were not as comfy. The forefoot area has ample space for toes and that callused protrusion some of us gain outside the ball of the foot. Heel is snug and arch support is better than some though I have to use my platforms for high arches.Highly recommend these; rotate them into your practice runs to get legs a slightly different workout versus lower heel drop all the time. The cush ride will be a joy and you will not feel like stopping!

Comparing Gel-Flux vs. Nimbus 15's
Ordered these as my Nimbus 15 shoes have worn out and I wasn't ready to spend $90 on another pair of Nimbus 15's. While the Nimbus 15's were the most comfortable running shoes I've ever owned, I only got around 300 miles on them before my ankles and knees started to hurt. I had hoped to get a lot more miles out of them based on the money I spent on them but the 300 miles was only 50 miles more than a previous, cheaper pair of Asics got me. I ordered the Gel-Flux shoes based on reviews of the shoes, specifically on reviews based on using the shoes as a running shoe. I got a very good price on the shoes thru Amazon and was excited to test them out. The fit on the shoes out of the box was very good (size 9, same size as the Nimbus 15's) but I could tell that the cushioning was not as "soft" as the Nimbus 15's. (I expected that knowing the Nimbus line is a premium comfort style shoe). I've run approx. 40 miles in the shoe, both on a treadmill and on sidewalks / roads, and have overall a good impression. They seem to be a very stable shoe for me, have enough cushion to remain comfortable on 4-6 mile runs (haven't run anything longer yet) but they are not as "soft" as the Nimbus 15's. Have had some slight - emphasize slight - discomfort where the back of the foot rubs against the shoe a day after I run, but not enough to blister. If I can get 250 miles out of these shoes, I will be happy. If they last that long, I would consider the shoe a good value (being half the price of the Nimbus 15's). Will update if anything changes, hope this review is helpful to someone considering this shoe as a running shoe.

I rate 5 stars
ASICS among other brands such as Saucony and Mizuno was always on my black list because they all ran too narrow. I almost thought these brands made shoes for Europeans because narrow feet are more prevalent in this group. Anyway, this time I gave it another shot by ordering size 10 width D instead of my standard 10.5 B width. FYI, my dress shoes size is 8.5. I bought from Nike and Brooks for the past 10 years size 10.5 width B. Yes I purposely bought 2 sizes up because several running books and the local running shoes store recommend to leave about 3/4 of an inch between the big tow and the tip of the shoes to allow foot swelling and thick socks. I bought wide width (D) from other brands including Nike and what happens is wide width shoes are likely having “wider ankles”, which means your feet may slip up and outta shoes. This pair of ASICS is no different; however, the fix to that is to tighten the laces. I put them on today out of the box and went on 5K run. They felt fine. My feet did not hurt. The arch support? Not sure since I have normal arch. The bottom (sole) seems stiffer (makes louder steps as walking) but it did not make it uncomfortable. Overall, Although this pair is size 10 D instead of 10.5 B, the length fits fine. The width is wide enough to accommodate my huge bunions. Comfortable 5 K out of the box. Due to being neutral shoes, the soles won’t last as long as stability shoes. FYI, I am overpronator (excessively) but I learned running in flexible and neutral shoes give me less injuries than the stability shoes designed for overpronation-go figure.
