Asics is still the BEST!!
I've had Asics shoes since I started running, switched from them to Nike's, Reebok's, and New Balance's to try a different feel, and optimistic choice. But nothing ever comes close to the comfort, performance of my Asics, I have several models including this new one which is so far doing what all the GT Series I've owned before do well. Proper Heel comfort and no pain what so ever!!Asics to me is the true Runner's shoe, I run every day 5 or less miles, and if I'm not trailing on my other Asics the GT is my choice for pavement pounding domination.. Uphill, or extreme fast downhill it serves me right and never lets me down. So good that I use another set specifically for everyday work, I am a Service Advisor for Honda and I walk everyday through in and out of the Service Bays and work areas, they are stress free and feel like pillows to me..Give it a try you won't be dissapointed... As always, a great shoe
I've been wearing the 2100 series for years and have never had any problems with them. They are supposedly rated for mild to moderate overpronation, which I have. I love the support and they are very comfortable. Unfortunately they only had the narrow size avaiable which concerned me. I do have a fairly narrow foot, but always go with a D width. These are B, but still feel great. I highly recommend them for running or cross training.

Favorite Running Shoes
When ASICS moved to the GT-2170, GT-2000 and now the GT-2000 2, I tried to get over the loss of the GT-2160. Recently, I checked Amazon and found they had the GT-2160 in my size again. I was very excited. These shoes have a roomier toe box and more heel cushion than the newer models in the line. ASICS makes great running shoes and I like the GT-2000 series but the cushioning just isn't the same. The GT-2160 is a champ and a great value at $70.

Really good shoe!
I ran my first half-marathon with these shoes, and they performed wonderfully. I'm on my third pair, they are still great. Do go to a "running store" and run on a treadmill in them first to make sure they are right for your foot. I run rather evenly (no pronation or supination), and these shoes are great. My only gripe is that I wore a hole in the big toe area, and some of the rubber on the bottom started to peel off around 300 miles. If you plan to use them as a "hangin' around" shoe after their life as a running shoe, they may not last long. I may try another shoe in the future, but for the price, comfort, and fit, these shoes are great. :)

Extremely Disappointed
After reading so many glowing reviews here I ordered the ASICS GT 2160 sneaker, anxiously anticipating the acquisition of a great running shoe. The order recieved was at least a size smaller than the size id'd on the tongue label... so I returned them. I reordered a larger size and the delivered reorder shoe beds were lumpy at the ball of the feet locations ... so I returned those for an exchange. The exchanged sneakers arrived with a heel defect in the right heel which dug into my heel and audibly squeeked when walking on it ... so I returned it as well. Believing that this sneaker model's gel set up, foot pitch and reputation were fine, a while later i gave this sneaker one more chance and ordered it again, only to have it arrive with a toe room issue in the left shoe and a lumpy heel seat in the right shoe. The only thing comforting about any of these orders was the great Amazon Customer Support personnel's handling of these problem orders. Its very obvious to me that ASICS is having serious quality control issues with the manufacturing production of this GT 2160 model ... so, as far as recommending it, all I can say is ... caveat emptor (let the buyer beware)!
