Very comfortable, well made shoe

Hubby's review: First of all, I have a hard time finding comfortable hiking shoes/boots, partly because I've got narrow (B width), bony feet. So when it came time to get a new pair of hiking shoes, I wasn't expecting it to be easy.Sure enough, I tried on dozens of different brands, well known and obscure, without any luck. A friend recently suggested Asolo, and I'm so glad I gave them a try. Right out of the box, they felt great! Quality materials, well designed and constructed, substantial without being heavy or clunky, and the color is as shown on the website. I wear a 10 1/2 U.S. and they fit true to size. They run on the narrow side, but I can wear a thick hiking sock without them feeling too narrow. Someone with wider feet might find them too snug. The removable insoles provide just the right amount of cushioning while feeling neither mushy nor stiff. They feel very similar to my Brooks Ghost 15's. I also appreciate the eyelets for the laces - no flimsy nylon loops or plastic hooks to wear out or pop off long before the shoe has worn out. Just simple, clean holes punched in the leather, with the two uppermost sets of holes reinforced with metal grommets. And with the laces extending to near the toe, they allow you to fine tune the fit much better. I also like that the tongue is nicely padded without being overstuffed with material that just makes your foot hot. And unlike a lot of shoes I've tried, these have no seams, creases, folds, or metal protrusions in places that can make a shoe painful or unwearable. As others have mentioned, the styling makes them versatile, from light hiking to all kinds of in town activities. The appearance may not wow everybody (my wife calls them "your bowling shoes"), but I like the way they look. Might even take them to the bowling alley sometime...All in all, one of the best pairs of shoes I've ever owned.

fit like a glove, may as well be custom made for my feet.

I've had a couple of pairs of Asolo 520 hiking boots over the past 20 years that were the most comfortable out of many boots I tried. Recently, I tried several pairs of light hiking/walking shoes (oboz, Keen etc, etc) and none of them seemed to fit as well as my Asolo's. I'm sure that different manufacturers use different lasts which are better suited for different foot shapes and Asolo seems to have my foot shape.Since the store did not have Asolo's for comparison, i took a chance ordering these Asolo Space GV online, hoping that they would be as comfortable a fit as my Asolo hiking boots. I am not disappointed! These are so light and comfortable that I don't even know I'm wearing them. They provide stable support and are sure footed. My past experience has been that all leather shoes and boots hold their shape and are more durable than lightweight fabric hybrids. Asolos are very well made. These arrived within a few days of ordering. Very happy with the purchase.

Asolo makes great shoes

Have owned Asolo in the past. Well built shoe, waterproof and fits well. No long breaking in period. Comfortable from day one with good solid support without being clunky. The extra long lace eyelets really let you custom fit the shoe. Plus looks great for city walking but functions well as a light to medium hiking shoe. Not heavy at all. Going forward, I start with the Asolo brand first for hiking and walking shoes. Own about 4 pairs for various activities. You get good quality for the cost.

A model so good I buy it repeatedly.

This is my 3rd pair of this model. I get good traction and support and enjoy the very adjustable suede upper. After about 1000 walking miles the soles will wear. But this is my first of the men's version. They have identical soles, but a slightly wider upper (1/4 inch in size 42 of both), which is great for my wide feet.

Rugged and comfortable.

Rugged, solid, good traction. Laces were excessively long and the color of the “tongue” was lighter than expected. Gives it a bit of a bowling shoe look.

Great quality, fit, and feel

I was looking for a trail shoe that is waterproof and doesn't look like an ugly over-designed blingy basketball shoe when I saw the Asolo Space GV. Really like the clean old-school all-leather look. Since I don't have particularly large feet for my height the extended lacing doesn't look too clownish on me. (This might not be the case for everyone, as they do look quite long.) Most importantly they seem extremely well made and are very comfortable on my foot. I often run between a 10.5 and 11 and the 10.5 is great — no toe jamming or crowding in the toe box. The shoes are much lighter than they look and they feel light on the foot, but also very solid and stable. I saw one review that said the soles are thin and that you feel every rock under foot. I don't get that sense at all. Of course, they are shoes, not hiking boots, but they have a surprisingly rugged and protective feel, but very light and also a nice glove like fit, at least for me. Been wearing them regularly for several months and still love them. I will be ordering another pair soon, to keep on hand, before they get discontinued. My only caveat is the laces are a bit too long and get caught on things easily. I eventually trimmed off a couple inches and melted the ends to prevent fraying.

The best all-around shoes for adventure travel

I spent the last 12 months traveling around the world and this was the only shoe I took with me (apart from Bedrock sandals - another success story). Hands down, this is the best pair of all-around adventure travel shoes I ever had. From the deserts of Egypt to the jungle of Borneo, to hiking through the Pyrenees or sailing in the Andaman Sea, this shoe passed the test in cold and hot climates, rain or shine. I did not even look out of place on the streets of Florence or Vienna.I ordered a 0.5 size larger pair than I normally wear based on my experience with another Asolo model, and I appreciated the extra room. The insoles that these shoes come with are flimsy, so I separately got a pair of Superfeet high arch insoles, and the combination was very comfortable for long hikes. After 15 months of using these as my primary shoes, the soles are worn out but the upper holds up very well. I just ordered a new pair.
