I bought these for my teenage son as a barefoot type shoe and water shoe. He loves them. They are a bit hot if you're not wearing them in the water so I'd recommend them as a water shoe or a winter bum around barefoot shoe. They are comfortable, super flexible, and have super grippy soles which make them the perfect boat or dock shoes. Though we haven't worn them at the beach yet, I imagine they would do well keeping sand out because the uppers are a nice tight knit and they do a good job hugging the ankle.

Comfy, I wish they fit me and not my husband.
So I grabbed these for myself, thinking they were for women size 8.5, but they are actually mens sized 8.5. My husband took them to school on a school dress-up day, I think medieval day or something and they were great for him. Overall sturdy and he says they are comfortable.

Oh man! I'm usually wary of products like these, but I LOVE these shoes! Are they shoes? Whatever they are, they rock.They are a little bit tight, and I say that as someone with the world's most average foot size, but not to the point of being painful or causing fatigue.The grip on them is excellent! I wore them to the corner store, and there's a hill that I walk down on the way back which is very steep and slippery when it's wet, wearing these it was no problem!It really feels like you're walking barefoot, which may take some getting used to, and they certainly aren't solid/rigid enough to protect you from any kinds of sharp objects or very small pointy rocks, but for 95% of terrain I bet they are fantastic. They dry very quick, and the bottom where the rubberized coating is seems to be completely waterproof, and since I don't wear socks with these anyway, that's perfect.

Can feel sole texture
You can feel the shape of the tread through the sole and insole, and it’s kind of uncomfortable. I prefer water shoes with a uniform texture on the sole. Otherwise they’re OK.

Watch the sizing
I got these water socks for my husband, who had a planned excursion swimming with dolphins. He wanted a level of safety in the pool, so I got these for him. They only had size 8.5, and he is a size 8; so I knew I was taking a chance on them. Sadly, I learned after the fact that these are sized for European foot sizes, making these closer to a U.S. men's size 9. They were too big for him. They are well made socks, comfortable to walk in, and in the water (he tried). There is no strapping at all, contrary to the post copy on Amazon; but the elastic ankle cuff is really all that is needed. In an appropriate size, these would be great for the pool, the beach, canoeing or kayaking, snorkeling, etc. Had this item been available in my husband's size, I would rate them 5 stars. Be careful when you look at the sizing.
