Don't ask questions, just buy them. Most comfortable boot ever, after dozens tried.
These shoes are like walking on a cloud. With plantar fasciitis, being on my feet all day can be grueling. Since buying these boots, I have had zero problems with my feet. If I know I'm going to do a lot of walking (particularly on concrete or asphalt) I will put these on. I have wide feet and generally have to buy wides. An earlier model of the velocitors were wide enough to fit with no discomfort. The newer model of velocitors have become narrower for some reason. Not a deal breaker as they are still incredibly comfortable, but just a bit disappointing.I also own a pair of 511 boots. I like that those are completely water proof, but due to that, they do not breath and are stupid hot in the summer. These velocitors stay cool and my feet don't sweat. The sole is very grippy and has great tread. The sole has a bit wider base, which provides a lot of stability. The zipper works smoothly without catching or separating.Con: The only con (other than the newer slimmer design) is that they are difficult to shine just based on the design of the toe. The rubber sole wraps up around the toe. The plus to that, is that they don't get torn up at the toe and are more durable. The downside is that shining is just a bit more tedious. Obviously this is only a problem if you are using them in an environment that requires them to stay nice and neat like me. As you can see, this did not change my star rating because I could never imagine giving this product less than 5 stars.Overall, these boots provide the durability, stability and support of a boot, but the comfort of a cushy running tennis shoe. I've had my first pair for a couple years I think now, and they are still in very good shape. I got a second pair to use outside the work environment (so I didn't have to keep them shined and such), and got the desert (brown) version.

Great boots. So lightweight, great ankle support
Great boot. Love everything about them so far. Have worn them every day for 2 weeks so far. They are very comfortable. I needed a high ankle boot for an ankle issue I've been having, and these boots have been fantastic. I usually hate wearing boots but these are a pleasure. They are VERY lightweight and the zipper on the side make them very easy to put on and take off... Even with an ankle injury. They seem to be waterproof as well, though that was not important to me when I bought them. I can't see them being truly waterproof for life, but I could be wrong. They look great, too. I've gotten compliments on them... Even from strangers. Very soft smooth leather. Quite satisfied thus far. I feel that I have gotten my money's worth.

Do Not Buy
Every pair of these boots I've purchased have fallen apart. Poor stitching, bad glueing. They are supposed to be waterproof, but as you can see from the photos water had an easy an easy path into the boots. I thought maybe I got a bad pair so I ordered more. It only been 6 weeks and the photos show how cheap these boots are. For $150 they are a rip off. Bates you should be ashamed for foisting such crap on your customers.

Comfortable!!!
I stumbled across these at Meijer one day. Tried them on and they felt like an old comfortable pair of shoes. I came home and ordered a pair the color I wanted and they fit just like the ones in the store. I've been wearing them pretty extensively the last 3 months and they are holding up nicely. The laces slide through the eyelets easily to tighten the boot all the way down to the bottom and seem of good quality. I'm not a huge fan of the side zipper but it does make them easier to put on and take off. My only complaint is that my feet get a little hot wearing them.November of 2023 update: They fell apart like some of the pictures posted by other buyers. Not sure if I'll get another pair or not. They did stay comfortable this whole time. I don't wear them much other than on weekends as my job requires safety toe shoes so I'm guessing with regular wear, I would have got about 6-9 months out of them.

Good short-term/temporary boots for construction
I ordered these boots for my husband a month ago and he uses them for house framing. He really likes that they're light wheight, helping him work comfortably. The thickness is good good, although, the groves in the soul get caught a lot, making the souls come off the shoes. They fit pretty good, we went for wide style. Overall these are good boots, unfortunately, they don't last a long time (if used for construction).

Best boot ever❤️❤️
Fit like a glove. These boots are waterproof. I washed My car in them. Feet state good and dry. They're very comfortable I wear them about eight to 10 hours or more a day. I really like these boots. It's the second pair I bought. The first pair didn't have a tow covering and they got chipped up real bad it worked waterproof anymore. This has a rubber cover so that if you kick something while you're working it won't chip the leather. Again these are really really nice boots I recommend buying them.

Downhill on durability
Bates makes a comfortable boot but they're durability has just gone completely downhill over the last few years. The soles of my last pair, this same model, barely lasted a year but I figured, since they were comfortable it was worth it. This time the upper has just started falling apart for no reason, after only a few months of average wear. I have seen Chinese knock off, Amazon only, $60.00 boots like Free Soldiers last longer. How the mighty have fallen.
