Surprisingly comfortable
When I first tried these boots on I thought it was a no go. I bought my usual size 7.5 and even unzipped I had a hard time getting my foot in. But when I did they were actually quite comfortable. They are definitely stiffer than my previous boots which are a different brand but after wearing these all day I am am very pleased with how they feel. Good support, good light weight functional boots. The quality seems very good and hopefully durable. They also fit true to size. I bought them on sale because I didn't want to spend a lot of money on something I wasn't sure of. End of story: I definitely would recommend.

Great Boots!
The fit is true to size, the quality is still great. They're Bates, not much else to say. Bates Combat Style boots are comfy, just my style, the Zipper has no issues. Other than the looks, the reason I love these is the ankle support I get ( I did have surgery one one of them many moons ago).Do remember though, if you are looking for boots to keep your feet warm, these aren't it. They're not Winter boots. So, don't expect to trek through snow, and your toes being toasty warm! They're not lined for that.In summary: Bates boots look great, are comfortable, are true to my size, and have the Functionality I'm looking for! Something that keeps my ankles stable, without rubbing or being too tight!

Very comfortable
This is my second pair of Bates and I’m already a fan of them so it may be a little biased but these are very comfortable and lightweight. I like this style because it has the zipper on the side for quick off and on. Easy to clean and waterproof. The only thing I wish these were maybe an inch shorter so I don’t have to get such long socks or they rub on my leg, it’s not painful or anything it’s just something I noticed. My last pair I had for about three years but after about the first year and a half the outer sold had a crack that made them not waterproof and the soles padding isn’t as comfortable as it once was. I still have the old pair and wear them for yard work and dirty work that doesn’t involve too much water. I hope these show the same durability I’ve come to expect from Bates. They are a great value for the price

Great boot
Not as comfortable as the 5.11 ones.They are comfortable though, I wear mine for 12 hours a day, they are true to size , first two weeks while breaking in aren’t so fun up around where the shaft area , where your foot bends.After the break in stages, they fit and feel nicely.Do fine on ice and snow, gives great ankle support.The insole is okay. I replaced with super feet insoles, I have planter fasciitis, so basic insoles don’t do me any good.I work in all weather conditions and so far they’re holding up.If you’re on a budget, these would be a good option.** update ***After 5 months or so the back on the inside finally gave out and started falling apart along with the tread on the outside on the back. I wore them out lolThey definitely get more comfortable after a month of constant wear .The zippers and Velcro straps started to go out and not hold and found myself re zipping and latching as well.Today I bought a new pair and may the joys of breaking in these ones be fun lolDefinitely worth getting if you’re on your feet all day and need a sturdy boot. Bates has definitely won my feet 👣.
