I previously bought a pair of these in "Teak Driftwood" at a shoe store. I wear 11 1/2 but these are a tad narrow so I got size 12, which fit perfectly. They are supremely comfortable and well-made. Love the rear entry zipper. Front laces allow a great deal of adjustibility. They provide excellent ankle support and are comfortable even when worn for long periods. So impressed with my first pair that I bought a second in "Graphito" on Amazon. Graphito is a nice charcoal gray/black hybrid that looks great with black or gray dungarees or blue jeans. All of the Bed Stu Protege boots have a cool vintage vibe - they look old but well cared for. They are re-solable, and I expect them to last forever. Made in Mexico, high quality workmanship and beautiful leather. Hand finished, so each pair is somewhat unique. My wife calls me "the Imelda Marcos" of boots - I have a whole closet full of nice one's including Lucchese and Frye, but these are my "go to" boots. Highly recommended!

Excellent comfort and style
Boots are still fairly new, I've only worn them a few times, but so far so good. They fit as expected and were comfortable right out of the box. Sometime boots need a breaking in period to be comfortable, these did not. The quality of construction is good and the hand distressed finish is exactly as depicted in product advertising. My favorite features are the finish, the rugged soles and the convenient rear zipper for easy on and off. That's particularly helpful if I'm going to the gym at lunch. The merchant met expectations, the product arrived as promised and the packaging was excellent as well. Overall I'm very satisfied.

look great, feel great
After looking for months for a brown pair of boots that looks cool, but is a quality build with a zipper, I stumbled upon these and couldn't find any other boots that I liked the look of as much. Love the zipper in back. The flap keeps you from feeling it even with ankle socks, and it makes on and off easier than my side zip boots. Look great and were comfortable. Fit true to size (I'm an 11.5). But don't buy them. I want to be the only one with these awesome boots...

Too Narrow and Inconsistent Sizing
The sizing is inconsistent from one pair to another. These are super narrow and have a low instep. I'm normally between a size 10 and 10 1/2. I first bought a 10 1/2 in Black Lux, and since the price on the Dark Scarlett had dropped a lot, I also bought a 10 1/2 in Dark Scarlett, as well. Although the colors of both pairs in 10 1/2 looked good, they were both way too tight, so I returned them and re-bought both of them in size 11. The size 11 Dark Scarlett was still ridiculously tight and seemed even tighter than the 10 1/2. The Black Lux was close to fitting, but the color was just about solid black all over, without the weathered looking two-tone style. As of the time of this review, Black Lux costs nearly double the price of the solid Black pair, so it made no sense to pay double the price for maybe 1 little weathered spot high up on the boot which wouldn't bee seen, anyway. So, for the second time, I returned both pairs. I decided to take a chance and reorder another pair of Black Lux in size 11. The third pair fits snuggly and is still kind of tight on the width and instep, but I'm hoping they loosen up with wear. The color of the 3rd Black Lux pair is weathered, but not nearly as weathered or nice looking as the original pair in 10 1/2. Even though the Dark Scarlett is still much less costly, I decided to give up on finding a pair in this color, figuring the sizing in this color may still be way too tight. Oh well. Unless you have a super narrow foot and low instep, these will not fit you in your normal shoe size.

True to size - sort of…
They are a bit narrow, but they are made from soft leather so they will eventually stretch out. You will probably need to break them in first by wearing them around with a thicker sock than you would normally use. Other than that, the distressed texture is beautiful. They are more seal brown than they are a true black, just like they would be if you owned these boots for many years and the color faded a bit. I’ve owned an identical pair of these in a brown distress for years now and they are even more beautiful than these.
