Perfect for long hikes.

10/10. Complete shoe! I just did a 5 day climb of Mt. Kenya (17,000 ft) and it kept dry and warm (with good socks) the entire time. Rain, snow, mud, scree. Awesome traction, light weight, comfortable. I was nervous climbing in harsh conditions without boots but i’d go with these again and again. Fits true to size but make sure they’re broken in before any significant usage. I did light hikes for a few months beforehand and had zero blisters.

Great techincal trail running shoe

Did several trail runnnig races on muddy, rocky technical conditions, including Ultra trail Fitz Roy in Patagónia ( 25- 44Km). Wide option is confy, did not get one blister. Handles well technical terrain uphill and downhill. Traction is good. Foot are well secure. Sole logs seems to last way more than speed goat 5. Upper sole is resistant with good enough toe protection. They dry fast after crossing several water crosses. It has not the heel cushing of Caldera 6, but Caldera did not have enough space in the toe box for me, nor the wide option either. Great trail running shoe.

Perfect for Disc Golfing!

I got these shoes to be my all weather shoes for disc golfing. I have tried many different kinds of hiking and athletic shoes but these so far have been the best! They are most definitely waterproof (so no more waterproof socks!) but still very comfortable and breathable! They fit perfectly for my normal shoe size and provide good neutral support. Also the toe box is not too narrow or wide, which is something I've had issues with on other hiking shoes.I haven't had any issues with traction or slipping at all, although when I first got them I did notice in particular for disc golfing the traction was so good that my foot would at times struggle rotating as I threw, which cause some knee pain. It went away as the shoe broke in though.I am a lifelong Brooks shoe supporter and these definitely live up to the name! They are definitely worth the price to get something that won't break down quickly like most other shoes I've tried.

Phenomenal pair of hiking shoes for those who need confidence in their footing - but a little hot!

These shoes are great for aggressive hikers who NEED confidence in their tread. I am an avid Hawaii hiker and trail runner. I often find myself on advanced or expert level hikes where shoe grip can be the difference between a great hike and a ride to the hospital. I have had no issues with these, through arid dirt, thick mud, streams, and boulders. That said, I would not choose these again simply because I didn't realize how HOT waterproof shoes get when running on dry trails in the sun. Now, these are AMAZING for cooler places or rainy days where you don't want soggy feat, but if you're tackling a 4 hour trail in the 83 degree Hawaii sun, your feet are going to sweat. When I ordered a new pair, I chose the normal version, same style.

For me way better than the Hoka Speedgoat 4/5

I have been in the sportswear business for 35 years... specifically footwear. IMO the Hoka Speedgoat has way too much cushion and it supinates the foot as though you're about to roll the foot. Too much cushion promotes instability throughout the foot into the knees. The Cascadia seems to have the perfect blend of cushion with stability. With the Speedgoat every time I stepped on uneven surfaces such as rocks it felt like I was one wrong move away from rolling the ankle. As width goes I would call this shoe D- C+ across the midfoot and D+ in the toe area of the shoe. The shoe is designed as a "low" volume shoe which means the foot should fill the entire shoe with little wasted space. For someone that has a low instep, this fit design is perfect. For me, I have a high instep so the low volume fit now reduces the width of the shoe (making it very tight across the midfoot. For me, I tried going up 1/2 size and the Wide version. The Wide version makes the shoe too wide in areas that I don't want wide. I want the tailored fit, so the 1/2 size up was perfect. There is nothing wrong with more toe room.
