Love my Brooks

Wildly comfortable and true to fit right out of the box. I have only put about 10 miles on them this past week, but they seem like they will hold up for many more. Their under sole has great grip for trails and rocky rocks, and provide solid traction on wet and muddy terrain.I’m mostly trail running and hiking in Colorado and so far I think these are a great daily shoe. The arch and ankle support are solid, as well as the toe padding. They’re not the lightest trail runners I’ve owned, but they are certainly not heavy. They come in at an expected price for their quality. If they costed more then I would expect more (I.e. complete water proofing, wider toe box, zero drop foot support, etc).

Excellent trail shoes

I recently took these Brooks out for a proper test on a 9-mile hike along the Boundary West Trail near Mt. St. Helens, and they absolutely delivered. The terrain was a mix of packed dirt, rocky paths, and a few steep sections, and these shoes handled everything with confidence.Right out of the box, they felt comfortable, with great support and cushioning. I didn’t experience any hot spots or discomfort during the hike. The grip on the outsole is impressive, plenty of traction even on loose gravel and slick roots. My feet felt stable and well-protected the entire way, and I really appreciated the reinforced toe area when I inevitably kicked a rock or two. They’re lightweight, and the design is sleek enough to wear off the trail as well. That said, I’m not sure it’s a great idea to use them regularly on concrete or asphalt, the sole feels relatively soft and might wear down quickly in an urban environment.Overall, these Brooks deliver solid performance and great comfort, though I have some concerns about the sole’s long-term durability on hard surfaces.

Great shoe for regular trail runners.

Like the other reviewers I was very happy with these. Fit right out of the box, and comfortable for my first run. I trail run, with about a 4-500 foot gain over a quarter mile, and lots of ruts and rocks since the mountain rain runoff follows, and erodes the trail during the winter. The fit, comfort level, and traction on the trail, were perfect right out of the box... I rotate my shoes so that most only get worn at most twice a week, but I am tempted to add another pair of these when one of the others drops out of the fleet... They're just high enough to give me a little bit of ankle support as well. I've got strong ankles, so thats not usually an problem but these are great surefooted option for trail shoes!

Decent Trail Runner

I tried many goretex trail runners before settling in for this. Here is the summary after a hiking about 80 miles in this:Fit: Great. Fits well, much better than many other which I tried. Most were either right or lose, but this one felt just right.Grip: Solid: never felt insecure or slippery.Comfort: Average. This wasn't as comfortable as a sneaker and was much stiffer with little cushion. More like a cross between a trail sneaker and boot. Initially it was uncomfortable but after few days it felt okay. I guess it needed breaking into like a boot.Durability: Poor: Already worn off pretty badly from places. Granted it was used in a rough terrain, but expected better durability.Overall: 3.5 stars. Not disappointed with the purchase but could have been better.

Great trail runners

I’ve put hundreds of miles on these shoes and they’ve been great. Probably the best trail runner/hiking shoe I’ve had. I hike a ton in Colorado and I’ve got zero complaints. The grip is amazing, the shoe is comfortable and they’ve not fallen apart like other shoes I’ve owned. I’ll probably buy another pair once winter is over.

Very tight fitting shoe

I really want to love these shoes. They are rugged. They are durable and great in all conditions, but they are so tight on your feet. They cause sore spots on the top of your foot and on the small toe they are not the most cushy or comfortable shoe, but They definitely have the traction and durability that you would want in a trail running shoe. I’ve tried the size 10, which is my normal size and I’ve also tried the 10 1/2 the 10 1/2’s are still tight but they’re way too long. The tins are even more tight but just irritate your feet after a long 5/10 mile hike.
