Tough to find the right size but otherwise, a great pair of shoes!
Buying shoes can be difficult in general and doing so online can be quite complicated. Below is my experience and thoughts about these Bruno Maglis. As much as I like my Allen Edmonds Park Avenues, I found that the leather for the shoes were too stiff and abrasive for my feet. So I searched for a more comfortable and softer leather shoes and came across the Bruno Magli Raging Slip-On. I am very pleased with this purchase - they look great! It can be worn for business casual (e.g., slip-ons plus pressed trousers, button-down shirt) or for more casual purposes (e.g., with denim). It can last you a long time if you take proper care of it. While you might want to confirm with your local cobbler, after I spoke to my local shoe repair specialists, they confirmed that they are recraftable (i.e., can be re-soled).The main problem I ran into was that I had to try/order at least 4 pairs to find the right size. I pretty much went a full size down. I started off from a 10.5, tried a 10, followed by a 9.5W, and finally settled for a 9.5. In the process, I ended up changing my mind and went from the black to the brown slip-ons. You probably won't go wrong with either color - I'd ideally like to get another pair in black!I'm still in the process of breaking them in and I've noticed that the toe area is ever so slightly snug even though I chose the best fit. Not a problem for me since after I wear them for a few minutes, I no longer notice the slight tightness. Another reviewer mentioned that the leather is very soft and can be easily creased and that there was a nail sticking out of a heel. The leather does get creased easily but in my opinion, nothing that makes the shoes look bad; still that's a good observation and something to keep in mind. Thankfully no nail sticking out of the sole either (in fact, none of the ones I tried had a defect like that if I recall). If you want these shoes to last, you'll have to take care of them, just like anything else. Here is what I do: I wear these shoes every other day and insert shoe-trees right after taking them off. I store them in my office so its mainly worn inside a building. I do this so I don't have to wear them when I'm coming into work and it's raining. I had the misfortune of being a bit too carefree and the rain slightly damaged a decent pair of leather shoes.FYI. I found that using the Dark Brown Meltonian shoe cream works really well. It matches the shoe color perfectly it seems, whereas this cream didn't work for a dark brown Ferragamo that I have.Overall, I didn't think there was a reason for me to give this product less than 5 stars. The way I see it, if am wanting to purchase another pair, then that's a sign that I love it and that's worth 5 stars!
