Pretty much any shoe I buy fits perfectly at 8.5, and I've only ever bought 9's on rare occasions for unique shoes. A bunch of reviews say "THEY'RE SO SMALL!" and others say "THEY'RE HUGE!". I listened to too many of them and bought a 9.5W. They were way too long. I exchanged them for an 8.5W because so many people said they were narrow. I danced in them and slid around, which squished my toes up against the front... Too roomy. I returned those and then bought an 8.5 (my usual size), and guess what? They fit like a dream. I recommend you start with your street size and go from there. Exchanges are easy, and it's a good starting point when there are varying reviews!
Pretty good so far, I'm not an expert at tap, not even a beginner. But I got these because I've always wanted to learn tap ever since I was a child. The fit is definitely smaller than what you would expect, I ordered a size 8.5 instead of my street size which is an 8 because of the other reviews that I read. For me it's comfortable, but I definitely recommend going a full size up from your street size. These are pretty easy to put on, I really didn't expect to like the style of these as much. Until I saw them in person, they're actually really cute.Concerning sound, I'm not quite sure what I'm supposed to hear, they click when I walk, but sounds a tiny tad bit dull when I do a heel toe move. But then again, I don't know anything about tap dancing. The only complaint that I have is that these are slightly scuffed right out of the box, I'm assuming that someone used them for a little while then returned them. When I learn some more tap, I will definitely try to update concerning the sound and quality of the shoes.
i absolutely love these! they’re perfectly fitted for my feet and just tight enough where i’m not worried that they will fall off or shake loose while i’m dancing. their design is simple but elegant where it doesn’t take away from any outfits or costumes that might be paired with them, and the quality of them is definitely worth it. the buckles take a minute or two to clip on but thats inevitable given buckles designs. the shoes make great clear sounds! very well crafted! <3
Great tap shoes for beginners but runs about a half size too small, but that seems to be normal for tap shoes. These also have no stretch due to the patent style. I have wide feet and the width was okay, though.
These are my first tap shoes and after six months of dancing in them, I'm happy with them. It didn't take long to wear them in -- I just walked around the house with them. I bought them in my street shoe size and I haven't gotten any blisters. I have danced with these on all sorts of surfaces -- Marley, hardwood, plywood, and plastic laminate (ballroom floor) and they do well on all, although I've had to add some rosin to keep from slipping on the laminate. The sole is stiff enough to do toe stands but flexible enough for flaps. The screws on my left shoe kept coming loose, but I put them back in with loctite and I haven't had any problems since. The style makes it harder to do clicks and stands, so I may buy an Oxford style shoe next time.
In great condition, comfortable and work well for me!
