Best for water shoes

I bought these to walk the beach and not have to worry about sand getting into the strap holes that go through the soles on regular Chacos. (sand would stop the straps from adjusting) I think they will be good for water shoes. This is the seventh pair of Chacos I have bought. The heal strap is adjustable, unlike traditional Chacos. However, these are no where as good as Chaos like the ZCloud Sandals for hiking or walking. The arch support is great like all Chacos. The strap length on men's size 9 touches the ground. Hopefully I will like them at the beach. UPDATE: I tried these at the beach and they would not tighten. They kept coming loose. Finally they did tighten and the adjuster dug into the strap and would not release. I don't think these are good for anything. I returned them.

Excellent design but straps too long for low volume foot

I find these sports sandals to be stable and comfortable. The main strap was too long for my low volume foot, so I couldn't tighten them sufficiently. I took it to my cobbler, who shortened the strap and now they fit great. I've done this before on Chacos, which are built for higher volume feet.

A Good-Fitting Sandal for On-the-Go

I bought these after purchasing a pair of the Chaco Lowdown Slide Sandals and loving them. I wanted sandals with a behind the ankle strap for more on-the-go activity. These would replace a pair of famous-brand ankle strap sandals that had their soles separate from the footbed (I got tired of glueing them back together). Once you get the hang of adjusting the straps—not too tight—they stay put and are comfortable to wear while walking. I especially like the footbed. There is some arch support and there feels like almost zero drop from heel to toe, making these much more like a natural fit “barefoot” shoe, like I wear for running. The sole is thick enough so that you don’t feel rocks, etc. It appears to be fused to the footbed in such a way that I’m hopeful the soles won’t separate from the footbed like the famous-brand sandals did. The black straps and footbed go with anything, and their simple design appeals to me.

S & M for autosexual foot fetishists

My feet abide most sandals. That is until I was talked into buying Chaco. Which should be renamed Strappado.Expect 5 to 10 minutes of adjustment every time you put these on. You'll need to pull in the slack from the back, tighten it through the front loops and secure it in the buckle anew every single time. You'll know the fit is right when your little to goes blue from strangulation. Joking aside, expect stabbing pain in your feet. The extremely poor design creates pinches and pressure points everywhere. And it never fits the same way twice. Also expect to adjust and refit these sandals repeatedly through the day. The buckle doesn't hold, and if you somehow find a fit which isn't painfully tight, that relatively loose fit will cause the pad to swim under your foot. So badly that I have actually had it go out sideways, allowing the side of my foot to come down out from the sole and onto, say, Himalayan blackberry.I have highly arched feet too big for many sandals. But with Chaco, even a loose fit results in three or more inches of slack hanging from the buckle. Just imagine all the places you can slip and trip and hurt yourself! But here's the kicker--so to speak. I've worn these off and on for six months. I'm sort of stuck with them. The strap, the thing I presume cost me the hundred bucks or whatever, is already badly fraying. This causes it to become impossible to loosen the sandal. Big loose loops of frayed strap will become knotted in the teeth of the buckle. Every. Dang. Time. And that stabbing pain I spoke of? It's even better when you're frantically pulling and clawing at the straps to free your foot. What a product! Painful and nigh inescapable, out of frustration I've nearly cut them off three times. Yes.Sandal technology is over 10,000 years old. It's a feat to botch it so badly. Do not buy. Do not even accept as a gift. Your feet will thank you.

Great new sandal

The lowdown is a great lightweight alternative to the Z1. Not built to be as durable in exchange for a bit of weight. Not rebuildable, but I got them for less than a resole on my Z1 classics.
