Excellent dry floor shoe

I loved chacos from 13 years ago. I finally needed replacements but all the selections have changed. The insoles of these are squishy and comfy but still keep the support (I'm flat footed, so this is important). These are weird in that two flaps of leather overlap each other and synch down-but ok so far. The tread? What the?! They're like little crawlers that independently move around. If the surface is slick at all, you start sliding around. I tried to hop across damp boulders and just about slipped off into the lake. As I tried to adjust my feet, it's like these little tread crawlers just kept handing me over to the edge to get thrown off. Weirdest sensation ever. This happens with any damp surface. As you start to slide, your weight shifts and all the little fingers adjust with your weight so that the next row of fingers starts to slip and the process repeats until you freeze awkwardly, slide into something, or fall down. It's like the white rock crabs on pirates of the Caribbean movie But when everything is dry, so nice! I wish the tread was like it used to be, because you could go anywhere without any worries. So I mainly wear them around the house and the neighborhood after church if it's rained first. I like the leather and how the heal won't wear down from the friction of putting them on and off.
