Was skeptical of all the positive reviews, but am now a believer

Wanted to replace a very comfortable, but now worn-out pair of brown casual/dress slip-on shoes that my wife bought for me at a local Stein Mart (alas, our Stein Mart no longer sells men's shoes!). Found these - I own a similar pair of Clark's slip ons in black, and they're OK... was a little skeptical of the rave reviews. Then, today, they arrived. Right out of the box they're a perfect fit (I have a narrow foot!) and extremely comfortable. The stitching and design elements are funky and cool. These are casual enough for jeans, and classy enough for khakis and a blazer. Amazon had them for 33% less than other online merchants. Very nice!

Very good shoe

After using them for about 2 months now, I think I have enough of impression to rate these as excellent. The break-in period was extremely short (a day or two), the feel is cushioned and comfortable, and the appearance is attractive, with various shades of leather overlayed and strong stitching lines, it has a distinct look. I can not tell how durable they will be, but my early experience gives me the feeling that they are well constructed with a good quality leather, so they should (hopefully) last quite a while. The only additional feedback I have is that the picture tends to show a subdued change in the leather color from one strip to the next. On my pair, the change in the color is a little bit more pronounced.

Best work shoes there is!

I just bought my second pair and as long as Clarks keeps making these shoes, I do not think I will ever switch to another kind...My first pair of Escalades were brown. Got them almost 6 years back, they are absolutely the best there is...perfect fit, so easy to walk around in all day and very very durable. I bought my second pair in black only because the other shoe is slowing showing signs of wear, although, I think I will use both for quite a while longer. The styling is very unique and they are as comfortable as can get...Clarks! Keep making these shoes!! I will keep buying!

Comfortable but there are better options out there

Good product overall, it is indeed comfortable and requires very little if any breaking in. This is possibly because of the somewhat loose fit, in terms of width, but also in terms of sizing, I wear these in 1 size smaller than other shoes I own and they are still a little on the loose side. Cushioning in the heel adds to comfort and does make you appear an inch taller, at the cost of worse posture. The leather is thicker and not as good quality as other shoes out there, the workmanship, stitching could be finer too. The squeak mentioned in other reviews went away after a couple of days of wearing them. The cushioning and thicker leather add to the weight - if you are looking for something light, this is not the shoe for you. They also get pretty warm after a while, so they are better in colder weather rather than on a hot day.I would award these 4 stars if they were cheaper, but in this price range you can do better.Personally I would recommend these instead: Timberland Men's Brookridge Slip-On

Very comfortable, unique styling

I tracked these down in Black after buying a pair in brown a couple months previous. What attracted me to them was the unique stitch styling and the immediate comfort from the first day. They did not require any break in time. They can be a casual or dress shoe. The sole material is soft and is very easy on the feet. They run a little wide which is good for me. Highly recommended for anyone that has to wear a dressier shoe but wants the extra comfort of casual features and great fit.

Super shoe

I really love these shoes. This is my third pair. No breaking in period. Take out the box and wear on you longest day. I'm a flight attendant and these shoes are perfect. No metal so no need to take them off at security. Easy to slip off when I get to my layover hotel after a long flight. Good support. Only flaw is the sole. Towards the front the material breaks off in small pieces. Maybe I just wear them to death. I've noticed that sole of this new pair has a firmer sole. So we will see how these wear. The brakes on the beverage cart may also be a factor in the sole chipping away towards the front. Over all I love these shoes an I would recommend them to anyone who wants a stylish shoe that is extremely comfortable.

Nice Durable Shoe

I purchased these shoes around six months ago. Sizing was true for me -- I wear a size 13 and ordered these in 13. They fit perfectly. I have worn them at least four times a week since then. I honestly think these are the most comfortable work shoes I have ever owned. I have been impressed with the durability as well. I must have a weird gait because most of my shoes begin to show wear in the outside of each heel after only a month or two. These shoes, on the otherhand, still look new after six months of regular use. I have worn them in rain, on long walks, and even recently in snow and ice. They have a pretty grippy sole (much more so than my previous Bostonian Flexlite) which gives me confidence when walking even on slippery surfaces.I can't think of even one drawback to these shoes, so I am giving them a five star rating. When they inevitably wear out I will not hesitate to purchase another pair.
