waterproof and comfortable
I recently took only these shoes to my trip to Iceland in November 2023. They certainly passed the test of being waterproof. I walked through puddles and under waterfalls, through small streams and in heavy mist, and neither my socks nor feet ever got wet - I was also wearing waterproof pants. On the other hand, a shoe built like this is not as comfortable as a regular walking shoe because it is heavier and reinforced with whatever materials make it waterproof. I highly recommend getting your own orthopedic insert - this made a big difference in comfort (the shoe is designed so that you can easily replace the one in the shoe. I got my inserts made specifically for my feet at Road Runner Sports.) I was very pleased with the performance of these shoes.
