Classic Style and Quality
This is my 3rd pair of Clarks Wallabee Chukkas. They quickly become my go-to shoe and get a lot of use. On average I'm getting about 5-6 years out of each pair I've owned, wearing them I'd say 4-5 times per week during that time period. I live in a large city as well so I do quite a bit of walking. The quality of each pair has stayed fairly consistent over the years. The only major change on this latest version is that they went from a full leather insole to a half leather insole similar to their desert boots. I've been wearing these for a little over a week now and I haven't really noticed. The leather used on the upper is the same thickness (very thick) and high quality as previous versions. Please note that it takes about 4-5 days to break in the thick leather upper to get it to conform to your foot. Not real pain or blisters during the break in period just slight slight soreness on the pressure points where the leather needs to soften. Once you get through it though these shoes are amazing. They are roomy inside and comfortable enough to wear all day even walking all day. The natural crepe sole is also great if you're on your feet all day standing (think museums etc.). From past experience, the more you wear these the more comfortable they get. The leather on the upper will mold to your foot and so will the natural crepe sole. These are classic boots and have remained slightly unchanged over the past 11 years or so that I've been wearing them.A couple additional items that if you're new to crepe soles will be different. They start off this nice tan color but will turn black and dark with wear. Also the material will pill and sluff off with wear. There is a lot of crepe on these so they will last.

Quality Purchase
These shoes ended up being a fantastic purchase. I had been looking for a high-top replacement for some time. These shoes fit into my style nicely and are very comfortable to wear.My one caveat to that endorsement would be that the suede does not hold up in ANY type of precipitation. Water and snow will stain and ruin the look of the suede. If you are looking for something more durable in weather conditions go with the leather option. If you are more focused on style suede may be a better purchase.

Great timeliness shoe for a graduate student
2 years ago I purchased Clarks desert boots in beeswax leather. I love them so much but I got them a size too big so I prpbsbly need to add shoe inserts or think about ways to make them fit better. the walabees on the other hand, I ordered a half shoe size down from my tennis shoe size and it fits perfectly. I love the way the beeswax leather lightens up and that scuffs can easily be wiped off. I was skeptical about the look of walabees but once I tried them on, the feel was amazing and they look really good in jeans or khakis in my opinion. I'm upset I waited so long to purchase, but will definitely use them for my life style (grad student, a lot of walking).

As of 2018, they fit true to size for regular width 9 1/2.
I'd like to add data to the sizing situation. From what I've read, Clark's has recently changed the way these shoes are sized. I remember buying "one size smaller" (i.e. UK size) a few decades ago, but for this February 2018 purchase I got my dress shoe size. I'm a 9.5 in most brands. Cole Haan, Johnston & Murphy, Nunn Bush, you name it. I'm a 9.5. I have boots by Chippewa, Corcoran, Red Wing, Thorogood. I'm a 9.5. So I got my B Chukka boots in 9.5. They were snug the first hour, both in width and height of the toe box, but the leather rapidly adjusted and they now fit perfectly (just like my Red Wing 875 did). Yes, the quality isn't what it used to be. But as far as I know, if this is the style of shoe you want there's no alternative.
