Clarks revisited
I remember as a 10 year old kid my Dad got me the Clark desert boots, which he had bought for himself too and were same as these. I wore them for a long time until I outgrew the size. I never forgot those shoes. When I came across these I travelled back in time (44 years ago) that is when I had them and suddenly nostalgia hit me hard. I had to have them there was no question about it. I ordered them and they arrived nicely wrapped in a strong shoebox. When you put them on you feel that you have worn a sock instead of a shoe, they wrap around so nicely. Comfortable would be an understatement for these classic shoes, they are heavenly. I wear 12D size and that is what I ordered, they fit perfectly. They looked great with a navy blue corduroy Ralph Lauren pants which I bought the previous day. Those who like good quality shoes must have a pair of Clark's desert boots in the closet at all times, I know I will never be without one as long as I can walk on my own two feet. The two most important things in life, a comfortable bed and a pair of comfortable shoes, if you are not in one you are in the other.

Amazing shoes
I purchased this pair of desert boots in my continuing quest to "upgrade" my basic wardrobe. I have to say, I'm extremely pleased. They are extremely well-made: the suede is thick and doesn't feel or look cheap, and the crepe sole is high quality for, well, a crepe sole. I've had them for several months and rotated them through my daily shoe lineup, and the only sign of wear is the discoloration on the bottom (to be expected from walking around town). The fit was a bit snug for my (admittedly slightly large) feet, but the suede expanded after only a few hours of wear and now they are the perfect fit. They look great, and I've gotten several compliments from family and even random strangers on how much they like my shoes.

One Week Review
This review is after one week of wearing the shoes everyday in active and business casual environments...The length was accurate. The width was a little tight but I have very wide, flat feet. In my opinion, with new leather shoes, the first few days should feel a little tight anyway so the leather can strecth to fit your feet "like a glove". Shoes that fit on the first day will stretch anyway and look saggy after a while. You just have to walk your way through it at first.I'm on my feet quite a bit and there is adequate cushioning I put gel insoles and arch support in all my shoes due to my flat feet. The boot style allows adequate room for inserts. The construction is single layer supple leather with secondary interior heel and toe protection. The sole material is etremely durable and gives you a half inch rise.I bought my first pair of Clark's (Wallabe's) on Ebay on a whim because they were cheap and my size. I was unfamiliar with the brand. I fell in love with their comfort and quality. I researched and bought this pair as an educated buyer. I'm not emotional about shoes. I look at shoes as a tool but it doesn't hurt to look good at the same time. I've gotten three compliments this week in a younger, competitive sales environment where people are making money and spending too much on clothes to impress. I couldn't care less but have to admit it's kind of fun to say these shoes were designed in the 1950's. I'm rocking an authentic "old school' style and getting noticed without playing the game.In conclusion, these shoes are a great long term investment in a stye and quality at a price that makes sense.Side note...the shoes were delivered in their original Clark's shoe box, in an Amazon box, in a plastic envelope in two days by Amazon Prime. It was raining when they got dropped off so the plastic was important. Nice touch.UPDATE: 8/7/16 - Still going strong. showing obvious wear but no tear. I wear these all the time. Very comfortable and will buy anther pair when these ever wear out.

Love these boots!
I'm currently on my second pair. I love these boots. They are extremely comfortable and well made. I'm only on my second pair (in the same Oakwood suede) because my first pair were kind of ruined in flash flood on my way to work. The suede on that pair no longer looks good. I'm wondering if they can be salvaged somewhat by dying them another color. Anyway, Clarks Desert Boots are some of my favorite shoes ever. Most days, they are all I want to wear. No kidding -- I am wearing them now as I write this review. They look good with everything, are comfortable all day long, and will last you for years. If you're worried about water damage on the suede, just opt for a leather pair.

I really like these boots
I really like these boots, but the picture that supposedly represented the product was of the taupe perforated leather and to my surprise when I opened the package I found taupe boots with orange souls. Now truly they grown on me, but I really think that misrepresenting a product is bad business. I would have sent them back, but really didn't want to go through the hassle of the return process. Not unhappy, but a little disappointed, but the boots are great. I like them very much.

A disappointment
Since this particular item is in the $100+ price range one would expect to find at least a modicum of luxuriousness. Alas, it is not to be. Despite its well-known name, I found this product to be a total disappointment. The leather is very thin and also very stiff. The lining looks cheap and gaudy and is also very thin. There is no padding at all in a base that is much too hard and unyielding for the soles and heels of your feet. There is no padding around the ankles, either. And if that's not enough, this "very British product" was made in Viet Nam! I thought "Clarks Originals" meant "top of the line." I was wrong. It means "high price, low quality." Very disappointing.
