Sturdy, comfortable, waterproof, and handsome!

It's been 4+ weeks since I purchased these boots (Dec 2025) and now in the dead of an Upstate NY winter (including lots of trudging around in deep snow, slush, etc.), I love these boots so far. They're comfortable right out of the box; sturdy; waterproof (about to hit them with some spray, to keep that going); good looking; and lightweight... Also, the laces are strong and plenty long enough and the sole has been good traction-wise. If I were the product designer, the only thing I might take a look at was increasing the length of the tongue by maybe 1/2 of an inch, because sometimes the laces slip up and over the top of the tongue... But that's a pretty minor item.

Narrow fit in a very serviceable boot.

CMP Rigel Mid Men’s Waterproof Hiking Boots ReviewI wore these boots for two, solid 12 hour days working on our rural 5 acres as well as cleaning out my cement-floored garage. These are my impressions:- There was no break-in period required. They fit well right off the bat with no sore spots or rub areas. So, unless you have bunions or some other orthotic condition, you should be able to put them to use right out of the box. (This is rare for me. I almost ALWAYS have to take several wearings of any boot to work out the kinks and get them softened up enough to wear all day.)- The boots are really pretty light weight, yet provide reasonable foot and ankle support.- They appear to be quite water resistant. I splashed around in some water overflowing from our pond. The water ran off like it was on a duck's back. But some waterproofing treatments look great initially, but do not hold up to the test of time. One real test would be a long hike through a steady rain, walking through wet meadows, or crossing some shallow creeks repeatedly in conditions similar to a mountain backpack outing. I have not had those opportunities yet.- The build quality seems to be quite good. Stitching and supportive elements have been added that add some rigidity without adding much weight.- The shoe laces were long enough without being excessively long.- I do not like the stitched lacing holes as they do not permit the shoe laces to slide through easily when attempting to adjust the tightness of the fit. You have to tighten/loosen the laces going through each pair of holes, two at a time. You cannot just pull from the top and expect the lacing to tighten the length of the instep. Metal grommets would offer less resistance and easier adjustments.- I wear a size 13 and these boots were true to that size. But there was not much left over.- They are built on a narrow, European last however. So, if you wear a "EE" width you may be disappointed with the fit. I like to wear thick socks when hiking. And even though the instep gusset is pretty generous, a wide foot with thick socks may feel cramped.- The insoles are VERY thin in the footbed. I would prefer to have a thicker cushion in this area and will most likely be adding a thicker insole for some additional comfort.- The tread seems to offer plenty of traction and grip for most any typical outdoor surface save for ice.- As to the cost, the price seems to be around average for this type of hiking boot. I am not familiar with the brand though, so cannot attest to how they compare with the rest of their offerings.Over all this appears to be a well-built, serviceable hiking boot. Not an alpine boot to climb high, snowy peaks with, but more than adequate for day hiking and weekend-type backpacking outings.

Comfortable with support

These boots are extremely comfortable and did not require any break in before hiking. I did wear them a few days before hiking but did not need to. I need lots of support and stability for my feet and these delivered. Would definitely buy these boots again.
