Excellent Boots for The Right Application

Reviews here are due some perspective:I am a long-time and die-hard revolving customer to the Columbia brand. I am because I have been thoroughly satisfied by their product line. There are many brands I don't return to, so if I'm continuing to purchase from the same brand, the company has won my loyalty through quality products.Having said that, I started buying Columbia hiking boots, give or take 15 years ago, despite never being a hiker. I bought them because they went well with shorts for the summer. I got used to them, and since they were lightweight and versatile, I started bringing them with me for travel. When traveling, I do a lot of urban walking. While in England, I made the mistake of wearing my Timberland Pros, walking on them over 8 miles in a day. The next day I switched to my Columbias, and it was night and day. Used them for Italy as well. I power walked on them like I had sneakers on. The major difference between these and sneakers is the ankle support. They provide significant support for ankles ( and as a tall guy with a quick gate I have rolled mine a number of times ).So you want work boots, Timberland Pros all day long, hands down. These are not work boots, nor are they serious trail hiking boots where you are going to traverse forest/jungle canopy terrain. ASOLO gets $260 for their hiking boots for a reason ( I own those too ). They feel like they are made of Kevlar. Would I wear the ASOLOs to traverse across Florence Italy? Hell no. Just like my experience in the Timberland Pro's you will come back to your hotel half broken from walking in boots not meant for the application. You have to look at the price point and application. These are excellent for daily casual use and highly recommended for urban city walking and throw in some light trails all day long. You can't beat them. Great arch support. Very comfortable and they look great. They really stand out. I bought two pairs and I'm exceedingly satisfied. For hiking I'll use my Asolo's. For work boots ( and I get knee deep in heavy construction projects) I'll use my Timberland Pro's. For everyday use with ankle support Im going with these all day. If you try to use them for what they are not designed for, you will be disappointed. Yes, they say hiking - but I'm not gonna put a $250 expectation on a $75 boot.

Have purchased many times

I bought the Columbia Men's Newton Ridge Plus II Suede Waterproof Hiking Boot for my husband a couple of months ago, and I have to say, we are both really impressed. He does quite a bit of hiking, and he needed something that would keep his feet dry and comfortable on those longer trails.Right out of the box, they looked great with a combination of suede and a sturdy design. He found them easy to lace up and felt like they provided good ankle support right from the start. The waterproof feature has definitely held up, even on rainy days and wet terrains, which is a huge plus. He’s also mentioned how comfortable they are for all-day wear. No blisters or sore spots, which has been a problem with other boots he’s tried in the past. The traction on the soles has performed well on both rocky paths and muddy spots, giving him confidence while hiking.Overall, these boots have been a solid choice. They look stylish enough for casual wear, but they perform when it counts on the trails. I’d definitely recommend them to anyone looking for reliable hiking boots!

Reliable, comfortable and long lasting

I’ve purchased these boots three times now, and they’ve always been great. They fit wide feet comfortably, feel supportive, and are comfortable enough for all-day wear. The waterproofing holds up well, which is a must. These boots are for my husband, who works in construction, and he loves them. No other boots he’s tried have lasted as long as these. Columbia is a reliable brand, and this model has proven itself over time. We keep coming back to them for a reason.

1st four mile hike 🥾

This is an initial review based on first day of use. The hike started off with temperatures in the high 60s but within an hour was over 75° . I walked 4 miles on and off-road. Half of the hike was on leaf covered gravel trail while the other half was pavement.Appearance: appealing active light, trailblazer style. With an aggressive tread. Time will reveal how the suede exterior holds up. I’m concerned these boots do not have rubber surrounding/ protecting the toes against damage and tears caused by traversing rocks, and roots.Wearability: I was impressed with the fitment and comfort right out of the box, I expect comfort may improve after a break-in. The inner soul was firm but comfortable,, lacking arch support.Breathability: these boots were adequate. I didn’t notice excessive heat buildup despite the long hike and rising temperatures. They remain comfortable.Traction: I rate the souls very good too excellent. Sure footed. Firm but pliable.Value: this color was on sale! I was persuaded by the discount, but not at the cost of ignoring quality feature features.I think it’s a good choice and a good value.

Great work boots

These look nice on my husband. He was wearing a similar pair (which was not suede) and they discontinued them. These are essentially the same and he’d worn though about 6 different pairs before swapping to these. He likes them just the same. Also good they have a non marking sole. Size as expected. I saw the high return rate, I’m guessing for size issues because the shoes are great.
