Light and very comfortable great buy
These are a decent mid level trail running shoe if you can pick them up for around 50-60 USD. The toe box is roomy for a standard size as I usually get a wide, but I do think my pinky toes will wear through, even with the reinforcement. Heel security is good and overall foot security is good, no slipping or sliding, so no worries for blisters, toe jamming, rolling, excess wear, etc.. As far as stability, these are definitely neutral and I have an overpronation, so my inner knees started hurting. I'm going to have to replace the cheesy insoles with some that offer midfoot support because the inward roll was pretty unpleasant for me, easy fix as these do have a plate and a decent midsole to support better insoles. Cushioning is good and they're relatively light for a trail shoe. Traction is good over loose terrain and average trail conditions, but they slip on some rocky terrain. Not the greatest transition from trails to blacktop or concrete, I don't like how the lugs feel on hard top. I'm not sure on durability, I've had hit and miss luck with TPU overlays on mid levels shoes, but I've had good luck with Columbia in the past and they've got high Achilles support, above typical wear points - I like this in trail shoes, so that should last. I've only had them a few days, so only 9-12 miles or so, but I'd say a solid 4 stars for the right price.
I wore a Montrail model from Columbia for several years. That was the most comfortable hiking/walking shoes I ever bought. When they were worn out, I wanted to replace them with another Columbia Montrail. It turned out that they no longer sell the same model I had bought several years ago. I tried this one. Although they look funny, they are equally comfortable. I am very pleased.
