Some minor fit issues I wish were better, but overall a really high quality shoe!
PROS:- Light on the feet not weighed down- Good traction and provide a nice grip- Good variety of sizes and colors- Will work well for a variety of terrainsCONS:- Not 100% waterproof, only mostly waterproof- Shoes tongue could be better cushioned and longer- Shoes run slightly big length wise, and slightly small width sizeIt’s hard to not be impressed with COLUMBIA brand shoes. This brand knows what they are doing, and they know how to make a good shoe.I was excited to get these shoes! I will admit I really wanted these in the Black/Honey color but they were out of stock in my size, so I chose the next best color combo I thought I’d like best. The Moonstone-River blue color still looked pretty good and I was happy with them.When these shoes arrived and I saw them in their box they looked huge, I was worried they weren’t going to fit me at all. Once I got the shoes on I was pleasantly surprised the size was super close to what I would have hand-picked after trying them on. They did run a little big and I probably would suggest getting a half size lower unless you have wider feet.It’s always tricky getting clothing or shoes online when you can’t try them on. But the size guide was pretty accurate for me with these being just slightly bigger then I would want. If I was getting them again I would get the half size under, unfortunately it was out of stock so I actually was anticipating the fit not being perfect.After having and wearing these shoes for a few days now there are some things I noticed pretty quickly.There are things I really like and a couple small things I wish were a bit better.These shoes had a bit of a narrow hold around the sides of my feet and toes, it made them just ever so slightly uncomfortable; but I can already tell once broken in a bit more they will be good.I can already see that these are going to be great for hiking; they are good quality and have a good feel both walking, running, and jumping. I noticed right away they had a good grip and provided good traction.I liked that these shoes didn’t feel overly heavy on my feet; they had a light feel and didn’t weigh my legs down with extra weight. The fact they were able to achieve this while still providing a good grip and traction I was super impressed with.I think these shoes will work great for all kinds of terrain and conditions. Even if you are looking for a really nice pair of running or walking shoes for me these provided that. They had a really nice cushion feel while I had them on and walked with them. I can see these being comfortable to wear all day long especially if you are someone who needs to be on your feet all day.I didn’t have any issues with them being non water proof but I can for sure see if you jump in mud or a puddle of water your foot getting somewhat wet. I would call them mostly waterproof.I have a wider foot and need my shoes to have some extra room. I think the insoles and wide style could be a bit better, these hugged the sides of my feet in a way that I am not sure if it’s a fit problem or just the style of this shoe. But it felt like they were intentionally trying to keep your feet secured in one place.Something worth mentioning and the one thing that I didn’t care for with these shoes so I am hoping will just take some adjustment, is the tongue on these shoes didn’t have enough thickness and cushion for me. When I tie up my laces I make them real tight so they won’t come unlaced, I want them to have a good secure feel. In shoes like this you need a thick enough tongue so the top of your foot isn’t being irritated or bruised up from a tighter lace.I thought the tongue on these shoes could have been a bit better. While I walked it didn’t feel like it had enough cushion, and it made me feel like I needed to loosen the laces so they weren’t digging into the top of my feet. For people who will be using these for hiking you can’t have loose laces. The tongue was slightly awkward and not the most comfortable laying atop my foot; I think it should have come down further on the sides as well.After I got these shoes laced and tightened I found myself trying to adjust the tongue so I had more up top, and more on the sides. I was left with a slightly uncomfortable feel and awkward top portion of the tongue sticking up after I got them laced; this could easily be fixed with a slightly larger and thicker tongue.Overall I still think these were pretty great shoes! The high quality and good feel during use is really hard to find especially when each individual has such specific needs in their shoes. I normally would knock these down a star to 4 stars instead of 5 for some of the things I mentioned above, the few things I wish had been better. But when I take everything into account these shoes are still a 5 star item for me despite some minor imperfections.
