These shoes are for my son and he wears daily to keep his feet dry, in his line of work as a pressure washer. They are comfortable, well made and exceptional price for the great quality. Will purchase again and highly recommend.
I got this shoe about a month ago and been wearing it everyday to work since then. Encountered days with very light rain, the shoe held up. One day it rained as it would on a normal rainy day and both the shoes took up water from exactly the same area. The seams on top of the toes and to the side. I know this because my socks were wet in exactly the same areas and water didnt leak from the top because my socks were dry there. On a positive note the shoe is on the lighter end of the spectrum when it comes to boots and very comfortable.
I just used these as my primary walking shoe visiting old cities with Christmas Markets along the Rhine and Mosel rivers in Switzerland, Germany, and France the last 2 weeks. I averaged about 12,000 steps per day and most of that was in these shoes, and the terrain in most of these spots were old cobblestone pathways meant to capture the history of the area and give pedestrians fighting chances against bikes.I'm a XXL female so normally my feet are killing me whenever we do big events where I'm on my feet for extended time (conventions, amusement parks, nature walks, etc) and I'm prone to blisters and swelling. In these shoes though, I didn't get any blisters and swelling was very manageable!I'll put a slight asterisk here as I always swap out the standard insoles with cushioned arch support insoles meant for larger people. I still stand by the shoe being a big proponent to my feet holding up though. I reused the same insoles I had bought for a pair of walking shoes I bought for a few other events earlier this year. The insoles had given my feet a few days without blisters in those shoes, but after 3 days of being on my feet in those other shoes and these insoles, I was hobbling with blisters. But I had NO blisters with these Columbia shoes after 10 days so I'd say the shoe did most of the blister prevention!
I have been using these for working in the snow this winter, and they are definitely waterproof. I had to trench through snow many times and my feet were dry!! They are also very comfortable and haven’t worn at all in the last 3-4 months.
I started with the standard width originally then purchased the wide version to make them fit better I do not normally purchase wide shoes I would say I have an average size foot this is a narrow shoe. After 3 months of wearing them while working for a state park constantly walking, standing and hiking the foam did not last as long as I hoped. It lost its softness very quick. There was also a seam along the outside of the shoe that lined up with the small toe that quickly became uncomfortable. Resolved that issue with mole skin. They were light weight and breathable. But were not water resistant at all.
