Very comfortable true to size shoe; terrible smell

I've been looking for a covered toe sandal like shoe with strap to hold it on (my feet are different sizes.) I bought my usual size, 9, (reviews said they run a bit large, I typically wear a 9.5), and they fit perfectly. I like the shoes, tho they're pretty inexpensive and it sort of shows, but not too much. But the horrible strong leather and chemical smell that has rolled off them for 24 hours with no lessening at all is making me return them. Really too bad. I'd definitely keep them if they didn't smell so bad. I had them out of the box on my desk for 24 hours and they still stink. The leather is fairly soft, the shoe is flat, but pretty comfortable even for the arch support queen that I am. It's really too bad. Sure can't beat the price!!
