Yes, they are expensive. My son has a massive foot and he finds these very comfortable and wears them constantly. They are heavy duty so if you are looking for a boot to light hike or walk in, this isn’t it.

Great work boots

I bought these boots for a factory job that required steel toe. I worked there for about 4 months and loved having these boots the whole time. And now, even though I have moved on from that job, I know that I have a comfortable pair of steel toe boots, that will be waiting for me should they be required or needed again.They were very comfortable right from the start. There really was not a break in period needed for me. Typically, I have found the insoles of boots to be quite lacking and I will get a pair of green Superfeet to help for support. I did not need that with these boots. The insoles that came with these boots were comfortable enough, at least for my working conditions.The one downside I noted, though not big enough to knock it down a star, was that I was doing a lot of kneeling and bending over and sometimes when I was in the crouch position, I was very aware of the steel toe and it would sometimes be uncomfortable if I was doing a lot of crouching. This may just be something to get used to with steel toes, as the toe box will not flex obviously, but having been my first pair of steel toe boots, it definitely took some getting used to.Overall, I would definitely recommend these boots. I clean them and treat the leather regularly and I fully expect these to last me many years. I will certainly update if/when they ever wear out on me.

THE ONLY WORK BOOTS I WILL BUY. This is my second pair of Danners and they do not disappoint. The fit is excellent, finish is quality, durability legendary! I have destroyed lesser boots from their biggest competitors in a matter of months but these boots are holding up extremely well. I have owned and used these 5x per week for over 3 months now and they are just as supportive and comfortable as the first month. Break-in was pretty short with these which is rare with boots this supportive. They lose one star due to the fact that the waterproofing didn't hold up very long. I treated them with two layers of Obenauf's when I first got them and every month since. The first week I had them, we got quite a bit of rain so I was able to test out their waterproofing. Even standing in 4-5 inches of water for hours my feet remained completely dry. Unfortunately about a month later when I tried to do the same they eventually had some breakthrough. However, it wasn't until the last hour of a ten hour workday. This has barely impacted my satisfaction with these boots as I have had similar experiences with other goretex boots and didn't expect much different. In my experience, few leather boots are truly %100 waterproof after being abused for a month or two. These are top quality boots and definitely worth the investment if you are hard on your feet and footwear. If you've never tried Danner give these a shot. MADE IN PORTLAND USA!Update: Almost 3 years on the job and it's finally time to replace these boots. They are no longer waterproof at all, the liner is tattered around the heel cup and the midsole has lost all it's spring. The leather however has held up amazingly as well as the sole. No big surprise, I'm buying another pair of the same. Best boots I've ever owned by far. Still made in the USA. Keep it up, Danner!

Love these boots!

This is my second pair of Danner quarry boots. First pair lasted almost 4 years.. Actually, they're still going! Just demoted to lawn duties.. Love these boots. Comfort, durability, and value.. All that made in the USA! 'Merica! I'm a lineman and I spend my life in these boots. Not gonna tell you they're climbing boots, but day to day work boots..... They can't be beat! Thanks, Danner and Amazon!Update.. Now on my 3rd pair! The 2nd pair are still alive and kicking after a year and a half of hard use in the electric utility industry. They've now been downgraded from at work boots to home work boots.. The original pair I purchased over 6 years ago had to finally find their way I to the trash. (not my my choosing, but to make the wife happy haha!). If you need any more convincing, let the boots do the talking! Comfort, durability, and pretty darn good looking! Folks at work will ask you.. "Are those Danners?". Just buy em already!

I'll buy em again!

Just like the other pairs of Danners boots I own, these are built like a tank. All my other Danner boots have been quite snug on my rather thin foot and the lace to toe feature is awesome. These don't lace quite a far because of the steel toe. The boot is roomy enough for an added gel insert and I decided to keep them rather than return for a half size smaller. I'm glad I did. Lots of room for toes and with the extra insert they are super spongy and really help with fatigue on a long day walking concrete floors. The break in wasn't bad. They are very thick, stiff, high quality leather but made so well that there was only minor discomfort the first couple days. The sole is soft and I'm worried that the shallow treads will wear away quicky. These are not good for wet, muddy conditions. The soles have minimal traction but they also won't pack full and drag it all inside so that's a trade off. Expensive but very well crafted boot.
