Tough, supportive and comfortable!
These are my second pair of danner boots. My first pair was the matterhorn 10" steel toe edition which lasted 5 years, pounding the rocks, dirt and absorbing the rain and residue from rail cars of the yards for union pacific. THEY WERE GREAT!These boots here that i've just received are nothing less in quality and fit like a glove if you order a half size bigger(10.5 to 11)...that's right. A half size bigger will fit you perfect because they do run a bit smaller due to the extra protective lining in the insides.The support for your ankles and arch are very effective and you immediately notice it without even lacing them up. Padding for the heel and ball of your feet are firm, but soft giving you an athletic basketball shoe type feel and ankle brace type of support. The suede like type of materials used is thick and the soles are goodyear tire like rubber...TUFF! I can't say enough good things about these boots, but i will add this. BUY THEM!!! You will NOT regret the premium tag attached to them for they are worth every penny!Now of course you want to know the negative(s) and there are only two mild ones for me. The tongue is very thick which makes them a little awkward to lace up and the hooks are a bit on the thin side, seeming to not have the strength to put some real torque if you will on them, but the boots fit so well that you shouldn't have to. Other than that, great job once again danner!!!P.S. I am not a firefighter and left this review for anyone wanting to know about the fit, comfort, quality and support of these boots. I'm a railroader that need tough, comfortable, long lasting boots to be able to handle rocks, dirt, mud and chemicals of rail yards, yet be very comfortable and supportive. These fit the profile!

20 years in fire and this is the most comfortable wiIdland boot I have owned
I am a wildland firefighter and have been for almost 20 years now. Over my career I have worked for US Forrest Service and CAL FIRE. I have been a Hotshot, a Helicopter crew member, worked on engines and now I am a Captain on a hand Crew. I have worn Danners 10” wildland boot, Wesco 8” wildland boot, Drew’s, Nicks and Whites. All but the Danner 10” wildland boots were pretty good boots. Because the Danner 10” wildland boot which is a traditional leather boot was so bad, I thought I would never go back to a Danner. But after talking with many other crew captains I was convinced to try the Danner wildland TACTICAL Firefighter 8” boot (NOT the 10”traditional wildland boot) and I am so glad I did. There is no break-in period. I just put them on and start hiking. As of July 2020 I am now on my 3rd pair. These boots are well made, comfortable, and grip well. I hike in remote areas under all sorts of adverse conditions and these boots do the job better then any of the other boots I’ve mentioned. The only con about these boots is they are a little hotter then a traditional style wildland boot however it hasn’t bothered me at all. Also It is worth mentioning that these boots have a one year manufacturer warranty through Danner even if you buy them on Amazon.

Great boots but the interior heel fell apart in under a year.
I bought these for Wildland fire fighting but decided to wear them everyday for the last 2 months because they're super comfortable and great ankle support. I'm 6-3 250 lb and boots are very important to me. I'm going to get another pair for sure but I think I'll get smooth leather this time. The Rough Side out finish is pretty mangy already. If you're wondering if there worth three bills, they have been so far. I get up at 4 a.m. and don't get home till 7 and I traipse around the woods a lot. I recommend getting a size bigger and wearing thick Merino wool socks. 7-22-21 UPDATE: interior heel on both boots fell apart making them un wearable in less than a year. Looks like they do have a warranty so I will talk with Danner about it. If it wasn't for that these would be the best boots I've ever owned.

Danner Wildland Tactical Boots
These boots are great! I've been wearing them for almost 3 months now and have had no issues. Break in took about a week at 8+ hours a day in them. Currently they are exceptionally comfortable and fit spot on. I had issues with logger heels and weak ankles, and these boots alleviate all the issues I had. The only issue I have seen with them is the laces are not extremely tough, so I recommend buyers contact Danner and get a few replacement pairs if going on assignment. Otherwise, these boots are great and I recommend them to any firefighter looking for comfortable and quality pair of NFPA footwear.

First small fire with zero break-in
I sought out these boots at the recommendation of a colleague. I was having issues with my current boots chewing holes in my heels. A week after my last outing with the blister machines I went out on a 4 hr IA with the Danner WTF with zero break-in. We did quite a bit of digging line and burning. Up and down hills and rocky terrain. My heel was a bit sore from the last blister a week prior but there zero damage from this outing. These are insanely comfortable right out of the box.As awesome as they are I have two reservations. One is the lace system. While it works I found it difficult to tighten toe area without the laces slipping back through and loosening.My other reservation is on longevity. I work structure and only occasionally go out on wildland IA. It will take me a career to put on the same miles a that a had crew does in a summer. While they look quality they just don't seem as tough as a good pair of full leathers.

Danner = Quality
I've owned two pairs of Danner Super Rain Forest boots over the last dozen years or so, I still have a pair in use. I've only had these boots for a few days, will be back after this wildland fire season for a more detailed review. Five stars at the moment from past customer experience and current experience with these thus far. A mild break-in period which is nice for those whom have no time for a break in. Danner's are sized for true fit as per Danner themselves when I spoke with a rep. I found the link below helpful for sizing I hope you do too if Amazon allows the link. [...]June 21, 2016 - Went out on a short fire call for four days within mild terrain, so far so good.
