Quite Possibly the Perfect Hunting Boot

***Disclaimer, I bought these boots back in 2019 and the design has changed since, that said, I have a few years of hunting in them, and I am happy to report they are as good as the day I bought them. Depending on the brand, I wear a 10.5 or 11 in a EE width. These boots in a 10.5/EE were a perfect fit, and almost felt like putting on a pair of running shoes. They are light for a boot and supportive, helping to keep my legs fresh after a day of chasing and stalking birds and deer. The 400g insulation kept my feet warm in a treestand and dry whether chasing pheasants in snow covered fields or turkey hunting in the spring. For me, the hook just above where your ankle bones are really make these boots, locking my heel into the back of the boot so my foot can’t slide forward and cause a hot spot / blister in the heel area. Unfortunately, Danner changed the design as the newer Pronghorns don’t look like they have them. I would not hesitate to buy this particular version of Pronghorns again. Thankfully they seem to be holding up, and I should easily get another 4 years out of them, if not more, granted I really only wear these hunting and occasionally when it’s really cold and snowy out. Maybe by the time I have to replace them Danner goes back to this version/design.

Great boots

I spent two weeks breaking them in before my trip. These boots are awesome, I wore them in Colorado in 20 degree weather and snow and never got cold. They are super comfortable and appear to be of good quality.

Very nice boots

Only worn for a short time but so far no complaints. Very comfortable and light. I would say they are about a half size smaller than what I would normally buy.

Danner Guy

When my Irish Setter boots "gave up the ghost" after 10 years, I started looking for replacements. All I saw was camouflage "designer" hunting boots. I was looking for a simple Brown leather boot. After researching Irish Setter, Redwing, Rocky, Cabela's, Red Head and several more, I started looking at Danner. I hadn't bought a set of Danner since '89 when I purchased a set of the Ft. Lewis boots when I was in the military. I still have those boots and other than being in need of a re-sole, they're still in excellent shape. So my search came down to the Danner East Ridge and Pronghorn boots. My reason for going with the Pronghorn was I liked the reinforced toe cap, wider toe box, rear sole stance, 400g Thinsulate, and most of all, WATERPROOF. These got a real world test during our Ohio winter this year when it was 20 degrees down to single digits for almost a month and a half. My feet have not been cold (or wet) in these boots yet. The leather is butter-soft and the soles and footbed offer good support without being stiff. Unless the other boot companies step up their game, my next pair will be Danner as well.

Awesome pair of boots!

This is my third pair of Danner Pronghorns. They were great the 1st pair, they are still great the 3rd pair. Fit perfectly and they are very comfortable. Still own 2 pairs. These are 400 g insulation my other pair are 1200 g which I use when I hunt Iowa when the weather is cold. This pair replaced my original 400 g pair which finally gave out after 10+ years of use.

Great shipper but disappointing product

Edit- I have about 15 miles on these boots now and think I’m done with them. They are broke in but still have pressure points. They actually made a toe bleed this morning. If you buy, get oversized and wear multiple socks.I bought these to replace my worn out Pronghorns. Whoever finalized the new design of these should be horsewhipped. The fit changed and is tighter than my old Pronghorns or the Acadias I have been buying for years. Too late to exchange before season so hoping for some serious break-in relief.Basically, Danner turned a good and comfortable lightweight hunting boot into a tight-bridged, box-toed brick. Very disappointed in this product at this point. Buyers don’t count on past experience with this model. It’s not the same boot.
